I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.
Please add links to new threads and articles of interest as the situation develops.
Thank You all for you participation.
How well they work is irrelevant to the immorality of them.
I am with you. I will not take any vaccine produced using cells from aborted babies. I will take my chances instead with the disease. At least when I go to meet my maker again, I’ll have my conscience clear of that.
I am on record that we can’t afford to vaccinate against every single disease that will or might make the jump to humans. To vaccinate against just ONE strain of ONE hemorrhagic fever will cost tens of billions of dollars. Just for this country. At a hypothetical cost of $100 per human, the cost for Africa would be $100B. And again, that’s just for ONE strain of ONE hemorrhagic fever. Not to mention that there’s a lead time of several months to actually create and distribute the doses to the people who need them.
Much cheaper and more time sensitive to develop wide spectrum antivirals and pre-position them in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.
And then there’s the shenanigans possible with ‘universal vaccination programs’:

I view this as a given.
This is what Islamic terrorist death lovers go for.
>>I do agree with him that, if it spreads to Boko Haram
>>controlled areas of Nigeria, it likely will spread to
>>Mali and Niger plus, worse, the ISIS-controlled areas of
>>Syria and Iraq plus very likely the Taliban-dominated
>>areas of Pakistan.
There are also a number of defacto areas of Islamist control and spread in the drug and gun trade between Africa/Mid-East and South America.
>>Given the aversion of Islamic extremists to vaccination,
>>that should become, eventually, a self-solving problem,
>>but not before mandatory mass anti-Ebola vaccinations
>>become necessary in large areas outside West Africa.
Think of South American narco-terrorists as a possible vector for Ebola or the future diseases you are afraid of, Thud.

I'm all for that, but the cheapest solution, at least for the Americas, is to keep the disease on the other side of the pond.
Stop issuing visas.
Oh, no argument there. None at all.
It’s cheapest of all to just not have to fight a battle to begin with.
Thoughts?
UGH.
Thank you for that information. We won’t be standing in line for any of these, either.
Ya know, a coworker and I discussed doing something like this about 15 years ago but the filtering tech wasn’t adequate at that point. I need to look at the patent filing for this and see if his name is on there! LOL
THIS would be a great idea in conjunction with an antiviral med of some sort.
