This one is interesting. It appears Ebola infectiousness increases almost exponentially based on the passage of time since a victim developed symptoms. That would explain how Mr. Duncan's relatives living in his apartment did not contract Ebola, but two of the partially protected nurses who treated him later on did.

Ebola, Marburg viruses edit genetic material during infection
From post # 8 by JimSEA:
""Difference[s] in virility in how contagious the virus is in different phases of the disease could relate to this in particularity with the proteins produced for the shell of the virus. This would certainly explain the facts the Duncans family was fortunate enough to avoid the virus but the health workers at the end of his life were not so lucky."

- CBC: Person who had contact with Dr. Craig Spencer released from quarantine
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) City officials announced Wednesday that one person is being released from a quarantine that had been ordered following contact with diagnosed Ebola virus patient Dr. Craig Spencer.
The person, who had been under quarantine due to contact with Spencer, will be subject to direct active monitoring following a physician review, according to a news release from the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.
This means the persons daily movements in New York City will no longer be restricted, and the person will be evaluated each day by Department of Health and Mental Hygiene staff.
The person under monitoring does not pose any public health threat and does not show any symptoms, the HHC said.
One person remained under precautionary quarantine for Ebola in New York City as of Wednesday, the department said.
Meanwhile, Spencer himself continued to show improvement at Bellevue Hospital Center, and his condition was reported as stable. He remained in isolation Wednesday and was receiving treatment.

- USAToday: U.S. Uniformed officers to treat Ebola patients in Liberia
President Obama has assured Americans that none of the nearly 4,000 U.S. troops heading to Liberia will treat Ebola patients, but 70 uniformed officers of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps will.
The corps, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, will open a clinic outside the Liberian capital, Monrovia, this weekend and is tasked with treating Liberian doctors and nurses who contract the deadly disease. It is the first time U.S. government personnel have been given that assignment, although all volunteered.
For those local medical personnel willing to treat Ebola patients among the most dangerous of jobs the new clinic is a means of support, Rear Adm. Scott Giberson, acting U.S. deputy surgeon general, said Wednesday in a phone interview from Liberia.

....in what can be seen as a disregard for the Nightingale Pledge which they took before being admitted to the profession, Mamba said nurses would not risk their lives attending to anybody suspected to be infected with the infectious disease which has ravaged some parts of West Africa infecting more than 4 000 people in its wake
ALL healthcare workers have been advised not to attend to anyone with or showing symptoms similar to that of Ebola. Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union (SWADNU) President Bheki Mamba said this during a press conference held at Umtfunti Guest House yesterday afternoon

World’s First Breathable Ebola Vaccine Proven 100% Effective in [Animal] Trials
Ebola has been ravaging parts of Africa, and the deadly virus shows no signs of stopping. Now a new needle-free vaccine has proven to be 100% effective at stopping the transmission of ebola in monkeys, and it could spell a breakthrough in the battle against the disease. The vaccine is administered through a nasal spray using a common cold virus genetically engineered to carry Ebola DNA, and it keeps protecting for at least a year after it is first administered.
