I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.
Please add links to new threads and articles of interest as the situation develops.
Thank You all for you participation.

“Latest US doc to get Ebola skipped protective gear in 100-degree heat, says colleague”
“Dr. Rick Sacra, a 51-year-old physician from Massachusetts, was working in the obstetrics unit of the massive Elwa Hospital in the Liberian capital of Monrovia, far from the Ebola unit, said Dr. Jeff Deal, a South Carolina doctor who traveled to Liberia to help battle the crisis engulfing much of Africa. Doctors and other health care workers often do not wear protective gear in the general part of the hospital, most of which has no air conditioning. With high temperatures compounded by equatorial humidity, many doctors and healthcare workers outside of the Ebola unit skip protective gear.
“I was pretty shocked when I heard,” Deal said. “At first I thought should I isolate myself, but now I have been a little comforted that I have been wearing protective clothing at all times, and no one who has followed the proper protocols has fallen sick.”
Ok. So this doctor was treating Obstetrics patients in another part of the facility. Patients who were supposedly asymptomatic. And he did so wearing standard protective equipment (gloves, etc) but not the body covering PPE and mask used in the ebola ward. And he subsequently got infected.
If this comes here, MD’s will have to wear PPE (mask, gown, gloves, facemask) for every single patient visit for anything. Even a hangnail. That’s the message I get from this. Correct me if I’m wrong.
“Ebola Survivors: Hospital Staff Exposed in Africa”
” About 250 staffers at the hospital use thousands of disposable protective suits each week, but that’s not enough to fully protect the doctors and nurses who must screen people entering the emergency room or treat patients outside the 50-bed Ebola isolation unit, they said.
“We don’t have enough personal protective safety equipment to adequately be able to safely diagnose if a patient has Ebola. So they are putting themselves at risk,” David Writebol said.”

Does anyone know how long Ebola is contagious once a person is infected?

There already is a second concurrent outbreak area, although of a genetically different ebola strain.
An engineer who had recently arrived from Ebola virus-affected African nation Liberia and was to remain under observation for a month has gone missing from his home state Uttarakhand, officials said on Wednesday.
On his arrival on August 26 at New Delhis Indira Gandhi International Aiport, Mohit Chandra was screened for the deadly virus that has claimed more than 700 lives in Liberia, the only African nation now in the grip of the outbreak.
The health department grew concerned when a team of health officials from the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project, which had been monitoring Chandra, reported that his home in Haldwani, about 300km from Dehradun, had been locked and his phone switched off for the past four days.
Uttarakhand director general health Dr GS Joshi said he would soon be informing the Union health ministry that Chandra might be staying in Delhi as repeated attempts to trace him have failed.
The Centre had asked the state governments to keep it updated about people arriving from the four African nationsGuinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeriahit by the deadly Ebola epidemic.
The Ebola virus, transmitted through contact with infected bodily fluids, has killed more than 1,500 people in these countries since the start of the year.

Nigeria hopefully not messing around with this.
During that period, it is unclear exactly when the patient begins to shed virons at dangerous levels (ID50 is one to ten viral organisms).
Some say the patient has to be symptomatic, but there is increasing speculation and mounting evidence that the disease can be passed on while the patient is yet asymptomatic.
It is agreed that from the time the patient presents symptoms through and after death (the body remains infectious).
For those who recover, the virus has been detected in bodily fluids, in this case semen for as long as 61 days after recovery.
