I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.
Please add links to new threads and articles of interest as the situation develops.
Thank You all for you participation.
Shallow graves are a problem if you have a stray dog problem...
So whats the latest? Are we gonna die? If Ebola gets to America I think our states with hot steamy climates will be most vulnerable
"Guinean student is first case of Ebola confirmed in Senegal"
Get a load of this:
"Health Minister Awa Marie Coll Seck told a news conference the young man had turned up for treatment at a hospital in the Senegalese capital Dakar on Tuesday but concealed that he had had close contact with victims in his home country. She said Guinean authorities said the student from the Guinean capital Conakry had disappeared three weeks ago while under surveillance for having close contact with Ebola victims."
Cold temps preserve it nearly indefinitely.
In labs it’s stored in -70 degree fridges.
Just sayin’.
It’s broken down by UV. So cold and cloudy would be better for preserving it.
EBOLA is politically correct disease same as AIDS. You can offend millions of loonies with a few words.
AIDS carriers were never quarantined back in the 1980s though it was brought up. And now those idiots have intimidated America into legalizing gay marriage. So with EBOLA anything can happen. We still have flights coming in from those African nations
The latest is that WHO warned today that the Ebola rate could be FOUR times what is officially reported. That means about 500 new cases per day and around 200 deaths per day. It figures because it is now impossible to get accurate stats there.
Still it is a tropical disease and a real winter will kill it. I hope.
It’s a tropical disease simply because the animal vector lives in the tropics.
Once it’s left that particular species it can travel anywhere humans can travel.
The above graph only reflects OFFICIAL stats. WHO today said it could actually be FOUR TIMES higher.
Not surprising.
Read the editorial from the latimes I posted on the surveillance thread. It’s in the early 1300’s posts.
It is worth a read. Thanks for the links!

“As of today (Thursday), about 100 contacts from a hotel, patients of Dr. Enemuo and patients of the hospital where the Enemuo was treated until his demise have been identified and restricted in Rivers State. The locations are being decontaminated.
From our investigations, some facts have emerged. A member of staff of ECOWAS on the team that received the late Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American diplomat, who died of Ebola in Lagos, made a trip to Port Harcourt where he checked into a hotel and met with Dr. Enemuo.
About a week after his departure, Enemuo took ill and was rushed to a hospital where he presented with symptoms of fever, diarrhea and vomiting.
In the course of treatment, the managing physician became suspicious and took samples for investigation. A few days after, Enemuo died on August 22, 2014. His body was deposited in a mortuary in Port Harcourt.”
BTW, the previous post is very long and detailed. I encourage anyone with sufficient time to read that one.
Is it just me, or did that op-ed smack of condescension? And Miller doesn't even have his facts right, I could have stopped reading after he cited 1500 cases. Don't get me wrong, I don't think WHO is any hero in this. But, the pooh-poohing of this outbreak is precisely what is going to get this virus spread in more countries. They act like it isn't going to be a problem anywhere, but Africa.
Then Henry Miller claims it's not all that contagious. Oh, really? Once again you need to practically roll around in body fluids or handle dead bodies. Again-- oh, really?
But it's LA Times, so what did I really expect?
The picture they have on there is a bit unnerving as well. The woman even looks like she is thinking "WTH?" The screener, without wearing gloves, looks as if he is about to touch that woman to take her temp. Is that not one of those laser thermometers? It looks suspiciously like a digital ear one. That can't be right, but it appears he is about to move her hair out of the way. ???
