Wish some American based airlines would put in some flight restrictions.

Me, too, but it isn't likely. Besides, people would just fly to some other hub and then take a flight to the US. Heathrow to LaGuardia? no problem.

Custom should be checking on who was where, though, if for no other reason than to have a list.

It is essential that travel out of the hot zone be stopped.

Of course, since you are now a resident of bizzaro world, that is the one thing that cannot be considered.

Make that “Customs” (more than one, I reckon).

An interesting twist to the death in Nigeria. From the Pandemic Flu Information Board:

The lies and coverups are starting to unravel out there. This was just posted by Dr. Niman over at rhizalabs.

A doctor, who secretly treated a diplomat who had contact with the index case, Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer, has died of Ebola in Nigeria.

The doctor, who has yet to be named, died on Friday. His wife has also taken ill and has been quarantined in Port Harcourt. Interestingly, the diplomat the doctor treated is still alive.

The diplomat, who was part of the team who met with Patrick Sawyer in Lagos, flew to Port Harcourt, Rivers State for treatment, evading Nigerian federal government surveillance for the disease. The late doctor then took him to a hotel for treatment.

As a result of this, 70 people have been quarantined. The doctor's hospital, Good Heart Hospital in Rivers State, has been shut down. The unnamed hotel, where the secret treatment took place, has also been shut down.

The Minister of Health and the Rivers State government are expected to make a statement on the incident tomorrow.

Very interesting. Read the bit about transmission. Direct OR indirect contact with bodily fluids.

S’ok.

I’ll post more tonight. Afternoons are usually iffy for surfing at my house.

I expect the statement to be more denial. Reading statements from the Nigerian Health Minister remind me a little too much of Baghdad Bob.

I wonder if this diplomat was one of the friends Sawyer was with when he was reportedly throwing up before he went to the airport.

Health Min tracking 821 passengers for Ebola

It said that 148 passengers from the affected countries have arrived at the Airports of Mumbai (30), Delhi (92), Kochi (8), Bangalore (15) and Chennai (3) in the last 24 hours.

"One passenger travelling from Nigeria has been found symptomatic and quarantined at isolation facility at Delhi airport. Her report is awaited," the Ministry said.

I believe that was the flight previously reported to have a potential case.

I agree, especially after their report earlier today that Ebola was almost "0" now and no other infections.

That’s a pic of the hotel at Kailahun that the medicos are presumably staying at. And the one where some guests were later diagnosed with ebola.

Nigeria has a case of mythical math when counting ebola cases.

As I’ve stated before, I think they’re scrambling frantically to control any outbreak. They don’t want to lose the Western investors and workers. Or have their oil production suffer.

Maybe mixed up pic or they’ve added to the hotel since this writeup.

I feel for the hotel proprietor if he or one of his staff is infected. On top of that risk, what little tourism business he had is toast for at least 6 or 9m.

The whole economy in that region will be wrecked (even more if possible) for years hence.

They are still denying the reported infection of Dr. Adadoveh’s sister.

Sketchy numbers to say the least.

Just read this:

http://nos.nl/artikel/691669-ebolapatienten-weggestuurd.html

THOUSANDS of ebola patients in Monrovia Liberia.

This would explain the lack of updates from WHO.
