On July 13, Josie Garcias husband was pulled over by Houston PD for failure to use a turn signal.
The routine traffic stop lead to a search and prescription drugs belonging to the passenger were found. Both men were subsequently arrested and the SUV was impounded. Charges against her husband were dropped days later.
Unfortunately, Garcias 14 year old chihuahua, Guero, was along for the ride.
As the men were being taken into custody and the SUV towed, Guero was removed from the vehicle and left on the side of Highway 59.
Garcias husband plead with the officer to let him call someone to come get the dog or for the officer to call animal control, whos shelter was only 2 blocks away.
The officer refused, claiming the dog would be fine.
For the next 3 days Garcia put up missing posters and searched for her beloved pet. Eventually, she received a call to let her know where he was.
Guero had been found, dead, on the side of the highway not far from where the men were pulled over. The elderly chihuahua was nearly blind from cataracts and had been hit by oncoming traffic.

The officer needs to be fired pronto..whats with these punks nowadays?
Older people with multiple prescriptions routinely take a pill from each and put it in a container, when they know they will be traveling and will need to take their pills on the road.
Oh and further research yielded this:

Wherein it states they found PCP.
Cops used to be the good guys. Now they all want to be SWAT team ninjas and abuse and kill people.
So rest assured, as you read this and get enraged, KOS, DU, DB, HuP will probably never see it as they suffer from the same confirmational bias as some of us include me to. Ive been guilty.

Ummmm Nope. Chess here got this story from the DUmp.
Bullies and Misfits all.
Uh...I ALREADY admitted that they did.
I think you're correct. Normally they'd have just shot it. However it would be hard to claim that a 14 YO chihuahua was a danger to them without seriously affecting their "big man" standing in the department. Better to just leave it on the side of the road and let nature take its course.
All is well, folks. The HPD will get to the bottom of this travesty.
In 6 months time.
An internal Houston Police Department investigation into a complaint that an officer left a dog on the side of the road to die after arresting the dog’s owner could take up to six months, according to an HPD spokesman.

OMG the Horror, the Horror!!!!
Heaven forbid I stop on my way home at Walgreens to pick up a prescription I could end up in jail.....
And as far as him turning without using a turn signal goes, if I had a dollar for every time I have saw a cop making a turn without using their turn signal, I would be very wealthy. It was a pretext stop pure and simple.
These cops are out of control!
Well, I said that the Houston PD was screwed up...and it is if they have cops who would leave any animal or person out on the freeway. Since one did, it is.
For one thing, the vehicle was impounded and towed.
” The routine traffic stop lead to a search and prescription drugs belonging to the passenger were found. Both men were subsequently arrested and the SUV was impounded.
Some facts are missing, here. “
“Charges against her husband were dropped days later. “
What the hell, 1st off the drugs were prescription, 2nd off, the drugs were the passenger and not the driver’s drugs.

See what the drug “war” has turned into? War against our civil rights...
I agree. But when my daughter’s friend showed up one day with two baggies full of pills I questioned the heck out of him. I told him in no uncertain terms to not bring any meds over unless they were in the original container. At the time she was hanging around with some shady characters.
I told her that if her friends didn’t show ID and consent to me searching their bag they were not allowed on our property. A couple were dumb enough to allow a search. I confiscated a few things and said if their parents came to get them they could have them back. No parent ever showed up.

Really? On Highway 59?
Does anybody use their turn signal when changing lanes on 59?
Turning on your turn signal just causes the person in the other lane to speed up. How did this guy get singled out?

Hell I knew someone who was and I quote “Pulled over for driving TOO CAREFULLY!”
They do that any way. One way to make some money on every arrest rather its justified or not.
I was thinking of the dog's presence there might CAUSE an accident.
*SOME people might have tried to stop and rescue the dog.
*Some might have slowed down enough to cause an accident.
Lots of "what ifs" but they are all moot since doggie is dead.
If the cops in Houston have the camera on them all the time, like some PDs have, then the cop who did that is known. I doubt he would get into trouble anyway. Cops often turn into some very hard, cold hombres.
LAWBREAKING CRIMINALS!!!!!!
Why hasn't the DEA closed down the people who sell such drug paraphanelia....???
