I know there are a lot of good dog lovers out there. These are two healthy Labs in the prime of their life. I cannot see them being ignored or left to be, well you know the inevitable if they are not taken in.

” a home is needed by tomorrow or they go to the pound. “

This is REALLY short notice — is there somewhere they could be kept for a few days or a couple of weeks?

Home needed for dogs, anyone interested, or can you help? If no one steps up they will go to the pound. Liberty on left is a male, Freedom on right is female and they have been together since they were puppies.

I had a chocolate (liver color) lab.
I’ve known several dogs in my life, I’m now quite old, and the lab was probably the best all around: temperment, intelligence, friendly—the whole package.
He was a good boy and I still miss him.

I don’t know where you are located, but there are organizations throughout the U.S. that work for Labrador Retriever rescues. Look it up by doing a search; depends on what part of the country you’re in.

Please tell your friend to try to find a no-kill animal shelter — some of those take dogs and try to get them adopted.

Looks like she is in N CA— I heard of a place in So CA, in the LA area that she can at least call, maybe they can recommend a place closer to her that would take the dogs.

http://petorphans.org/

7720 Gloria Avenue
Van Nuys, CA 91406
Phone: (818) 901 - 0190

“Pet Orphans is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization dedicated to the advancement of companion animal welfare and to combating overpopulation, abandonment and the need for euthanasia. We have been rescuing, rehabilitating and placing animals in loving “forever homes” for 40 years”

Something like this would be an option on such short notice.

If they really care for the dogs, they might even want to donate to such organization for taking the dogs.

She should check in her area, or call up Pet Orphans and maybe they know of similar no-kill shelters in her area.

If she can't find homes for them by tomorrow, have her call Happy Tales Pet Sanctuary, which is in Sacramento, just west of Rancho Cordova, on Folsom Boulevard. (the main drag through Rancho Cordova). They are a no-kill shelter that adopt out dogs and cats (we got two rescue cats there a month ago after we had to finally put down our last rescue cat we also got from Happy Tails) Their phone number is (916) 556-1155. Great people there.

She hasn’t been trying very hard, has she — I was finding several potential no-kill shelters in just a few min — without being familiar with the area, just Google.

If she really cares for those dogs, she needs to do some searching and look in the phone book for no-kill shelters, since the time is so short, something like that might be the only quick solution.

And since the shelters depend on donation, I would highly recommend that she donates them for taking her dogs and hopefully find homes for them.

You might check with bird-dog organization to see if any hunters might be interested. They are great water dogs and all around.
