SNIP Lee Hansen, a professor emeritus of economics at UW-Madison wrote in an op-ed piece for the John William Hope Pope Center for Higher Education, a North Carolina-based think tank, about the latest “diversity” plan for the UW-System’s flagship school. The plan, completed in May, is your typical left-wing platitudes about commitments to “compositional diversity,” “equity mindedness” “representational equity” and other things for what has become a sacred cow to liberal academia.
But when you dig deeper into the definitions of these platitudes according to Hansen, you suddenly see that “representational equity” is being applied to levels never before seen.
Let us take a closer look at one of these working definitions included, namely “representational equity.”
It calls for “proportional participation of historically underrepresented racial-ethnic groups at all levels of an institution, including high status special programs, high-demand majors, and in the distribution of grades.”
We are not told exactly what adherence to this will entail. It appears to mean that directors of programs and departmental chairs will have to somehow ensure that they have a mix of students with just the right percentages of individuals who embody the various “differences” included in the definition of diversity. I cannot see how that is possible and even if it were, how it improves any student’s education.
UW-Madison’s diversity guidelines state that if a course, major or program is in high demand, special status must be given to ensure the make-up of the class (and thus those taking the major) is racially and ethnically diverse with “just the right percentages.” Meaning, it would be justifiable for a placement in hard-to-get-in classes and prerequisites for specific majors be awarded to students based sole on their race.

Saw this a few days ago. Gotta ‘spread the grades around a little bit.’
They won’t admit dumbing down standards and expecting less from minorities is actually the height of racism, but that’s exactly what’s going on.
Liberalism is a mental illness.
They are probably already doing it that way now and they just want to codify it.
They are going to do affirmative action on grades, just like K-12 schools are encouraged to do affirmative action on discipline. If a black kid wallops a poor white boy they better find a white kid to punish for ... something.
Now it’s grade inflation or deflation depending on skin color.
It is ridiculous.

It should be any white female who goes to this school is an idiot.
Because white females are disproportionately represented in higher education. So, ironically enough, the beneficiaries of this scheme will include white males.
I suggest firing several teachers and hiring minority teachers in their place. When the teachers start bitching and moaning about losing their tenure, remind them that the school had to diversify.
When I say minority teachers, I mean conservatives.

Well, this will make resume screening easier, which can be an issue with so many graduates looking for jobs.
It means that the kids who couldn’t read but got into college anyway because of their skin color, will now graduate from college without being able to read and probably be accepted into graduate programs. We could have medical doctors who know less about medicine than their patients all to allow liberals to check their “diversity” boxes.

I’m thinking some profs are already doing it and couldn’t get the others to agree to do so and went the “official” route to compel them.
