Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy
Anchorage Daily News ^ | comJuly 2, 2014 | SEAN DOOGAN

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Wow. That sounds good enough to try. Thanks! I always have key lime juice, just because I use it in cooking instead of vinegar.

I will get some stuff tomorrow to make the salad. I’m going to try and live on soups and salads for a while, but I will have to be sure to have plenty of protein to stop the shakes. Still, if I can lose 20 pounds that way, I’ll be good to go! The rest will be easy. I hope.

It is not a matter of whether or not you have a use for one of those...
That comes under the category of: “Need ,Explain later”. :)

I'll have to listen to it later. Someone on my network is risking having the NetAdmin throttle their ip. They are doing one of those bazillion gigabyte downloads and the entire network is slogging along...

ALL DAY LONG...

You get three guesses. Bet you get it on the first one..

Well, now that you mention it, yes I am...

Have not heretofore evoked the bandwidth control but there is such a thing in the router software... ;-)

Or, the nuclear option... When the females start complaining about SLOW, I point them to the perp... ;-)

Well..

In the 'Outer Limits' sense. You know, 'We control the horizontal. We control the vertical.' ;-)

In the other sense, you would need to discuss it with Shirley Maclaine since she went out on a broken limb to declare her discovery that she was God... ;-)

But then, she also supported George McGovern for president..

I’ve invited some strange people over, but not Shirley Maclaine, thanks.

Just as I was preparing for a nice evening at home yesterday, I got a phone call from Busdaddy saying his house had been broken into while he was at work and his guns and brand new Asus tablet had been stolen, among the obvious things.

It’s a good thing the truck was fixed. I went over and found total and absolute chaos. Every room except the bathrooms had been ransacked, and that includes the garage.

It took two hours for Metro to show up, and an additional hour for CSI (not at all as shown on TV.) The serial numbers on the guns were provided, and CSI got some excellent prints as well as some DNA from a discarded bottle of Gatorade in the sink. And then there were the shoe prints.

By the time I got home, I was in so much pain it isn’t funny. And after five hours of sleep, I will be going back. I left in such a hurry to get there that I took nothing but me.

The sliding glass door had been shimmied off the track, but because of that very low tech stick in the runner, they had to go to Plan B, which was to throw a brick through the bedroom window. I hope they are caught, soon.

Thieves are so smart!

Maybe the police will find they already have the prints on file.

Be careful, don't wear yourself down too much!
