News is leaking out from Hollywood executives in-the-know that the Obama White House had been leaning on, pressuring executives at NBC for the last two years to replace Jay Leno because the comedian was criticizing President Obama every night. Obama didn't like it and considered it a racist attack on him.
There's plenty of opportunity yet for the Michael Hastings treatment. Jay owns quite a few Mercedes.
Oh, I agree with you. It’s madness. Ratings and advertising have nothing to do with solid math, statistics, or anything you can show to be true by the scientific method, although they LOVE to use lots of decimal points and abbreviations (HUT... Houses Using Television) to make it sound like your advertising dollar is well spent.
TV networks do not want old people watching their shows. Advertising agencies do not want to be associated with aging. Advertisers do not want their products to be perceived as being purchased by old people. It’s all about deep-rooted fear of aging in highly competitive industries.
His replacement , Fallon, bashes Obama just as much and is more talented than Leno IMO
“There’s a risk in that. Young viewers can be fickle.”
Like you said in an earlier post, Fallon has cratered the high overall rating Leno left him. He does well with the audience NBC wants.
But my parents won’t watch him. And they’ve got all the money.
It was madness to force Leno off the air with 8 million eyeballs a week tuned in. Are 8 million pajama boys watching Fallon? Nope.
It CANNOT be considered cool to mock obama! Leno had be removed from his perch!
“Letterman was discovered to have had a long term carnal knowledge relationship with a female subordinate who was young enough to be his granddaughter.”
Back here on Planet Earth, it has long been known that dominant, older, WEALTHY males often find very young females eager for a “relationship”.
For those who didn’t manage to stay awake in college, let me remind you this same pattern has been seen among the lower primates, that is a young/fertile female chooses a dominant male for the benefits.
And now you understand how welfare queens and gold diggers came to be.
> If all the people who had been threatened, or lost their jobs, or threatened with worse, would come out and SAY IT - this would be amazing. When they lie low, they are still under his control
Personally I’d like to hear fromObama’s hired assassins, the people that staged or helped psychiotic drug users engage in mass gun shootings, and anyone who helped forge documents or assisted on his flight path to power.
“Leno made more jokes on Bill Clinton than either Bush...”
In fairness there was a lot more fodder with comedy with Clinton.
It kind of bothered me how Leno made complete mayhem with the OJ Simpson trial. It was completely forgotten that 2 people had been brutally murdered.
So you believe that adult females are children because they are someone’s grandaughter?
“18-49 is the butter demo, thats the people who spend money on what they want instead of what they need.”
“Spend money on what they want instead of what they need...” You’re just restating advertising agency self-serving conventional wisdom like it came from Cal Tech.
There’s no scientific foundation to back that assertion up. None. There isn’t one verifiable fact contained in that statement that’s one hundred percent predictive of buying habits. So it’s meaningless.
The only reason the nets want 19-49 is the advertisers have told them that’s what they want. Because advertising agencies have told the advertisers that’s what they want.
Network execs just haven’t figured that out yet.
Have a sordid affair is not the equivalent of raping little children.
Typo... the nets want 18-49, not 19-49.
100% correct.
These are good jokes....the sort that are usually thrown out against GOP Presidents. They are, just jokes, and folks on the right are forced to grin and bear it lest they look uncool. Any man or woman who doesn’t enjoy a laugh at their own expense is wound up way too tight. That describes most left leaning people. Me thinks those Leno jokes cut just a little bit too close to the truth for our imperial President. It’s all just rumors, but how does Obama get to ‘racism’ in any of these jokes? The President of the US has to expect this kind of treatment. It’s part of the job.
Nothing is 100% predictive, because people are unique. But within that uniqueness demographic DO have identifiable TENDENCIES that are predictive enough you can build campaigns and plans around them. I suggest you read the book The Power of Habit, ESPECIALLY the chapter about the Target maternity ad campaign. The power of demographic predictiveness is pretty astounding, kind of scary even.
Networks want the 18-49 demographic because SELLERS have learned that’s the prime demo. It’s not a myth, it’s a known fact supported constantly through loyalty card, credit card, and the myriad other ways every store you buy at uses to know which demographics you fit in and how your buying pattern matches, or changes, previous established patterns.
Those are some pretty tame jokes about Obama. They almost seem like the writers were forced to write them at gunpoint.
I don’t watch the networks. I would say The Tonight Show should be boycotted but the majority of the viewers are left wing libtards.
I’ll always believe it was Moochelle who caused Paula Dean to be destroyed. Dean had told the world about Moochelle eating like a pig when the cameras were off.
I have seen more clips from Fallon on The Tonight Show than I saw of Leno ever. My children watch the clips and show them to me if they are any good. We don’t actually tune in for the show though.
Our children get the biggest kick out of playing the clip of Idina Menzel singing Let It Go in order to torture several of us. Her voice makes me think of fingernails scraping a chalkboard. The clip from the TS is particularly bad and nasally. Just awful. Dreadful. Hubby threatens violence to the tv when he hears it. Lol. On the other hand, Jimmy Fallon and Billy Joel are great entertainment. Oh, and there was a clip in the last week of Fallon riding a roller coaster with a comedian. I think it was Kevin Hart. That was great!
