This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.

NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
I have about 2oz of tobacco seed stored back from the harvest last year. I haven't counted them, but I'm pretty sure it's over 100thousand.

Nothing personal, but I just can't conceive of someone that has never eaten okra. Wow. I guess I am pretty provincial.

Perhaps we should wait a bit on the eggplant parmesan, but it does sound good. ;)
LOL
Yes. 2 ounces of tobacco seed is a Bunch.
Topping the plants creates heavier and bigger leaf.
Your feral plant might have set a world record - flowering in the northern hemisphere in May.
Is okra cultivated north of the Mason Dixon Line?

ditto that
How is your seed business on Etsy doing?
Sorry, no experience with them. The chefs raved about them so I bet you’re going to have a wonderful time with your harvest! Our resident chef prefers Romas, I believe. I don’t even know what varieties Mr. Sg got from the local high school’s FFA sale other than Better Boys, some eggplants, zucchini and a couple of bell peppers. We took in an orphaned eight-hour-old puppy on March 4th, Mr. Sg was in the process of installing solar panels on the garage roof, so we’ve been pretty disorganized.
Try changing to a California Red Wine SJ
Red California wine helps your organizational skills?
No but it helps keep my rows straight.
That’s a good one.
It seems they drive faster in the rain, definitely drive crazier.
You’d be hard-pressed to even find okra in Wisconsin!
I think April was probably my last sale for the season. I made about $40 total.
I’m expanding my garden and trying some unique varieties for next year. I’m also looking at what it would take to have my own website.
Unfortunately I’ve also had a couple of complaints about the cucumber seeds not growing. Not a good sign.
The growing information makes it look possible, but I don’t know of anybody who’s tried. It’s an experiment.
Is your tobacco a named variety?
Sounds a lot like me. I started my corn late That’s because I like to start my own and then replant, but for some reason none of them came up, so I ended up waiting till it warmed enough to start them in the ground.
We have King snakes around here that will help keep the gopher and other rodent population down, along with rattlers, but it’s never enough. I still need to use protected boxes and fencing.
Two years ago the dear kept stopping by my garden at night on their way to the creek and wiped my tomato crop out, along with my cucs and bell peppers. No matter what I tried I could not stop them. Starting last year I began putting my fence up and it helped, but the problem still remains that if they want them they can jump 10 feet to get into them.
This year I am tempted to set up a dear stand and poach some venison for the freezer. I already have an abundance of wild turkey that live around here. There is a family of about 60, but come fall you can here the neighbors shooting them for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. So far we haven’t because my wife won’t let me.
If I can find them, I’ll post a pic of the turkeys. It;s quite an eye opener to see.
Okry thrives on heat. My county agent(SE Texas) advised not to plant till June. Temps are consistently in the 90’s then.
