Growing evidence confirms that abortions take more than an emotional toll on those who obtain them. A new study, completed in January and released at the end of April, finds that women who have had abortions are 180 percent more likely to develop breast cancer, confirming evidence found in a number of similar studies around the world.
The study, led by Dr. Unmesh Takalkar, a consultant surgeon and chief medical director at United CIIGMA Hospital in India and an endoscopic surgeon and fellow at Johns Hopkins, focused on 220 women in Aurangabad, India, and found that the odds of developing breast cancer increased with the number of abortions a woman had had.
"We observed strong positive association of positive family history in first degree relatives ... number of abortions ... and past history of benign breast disease ... in cases of breast cancer at our center," wrote Dr. Takalkar.
The Johns Hopkins study corroborates findings from various other studies, such as one published earlier this year in the Indian Journal of Cancer that showed abortion had led to a 626-percent increase in risk for breast cancer.
And the risk does not lie with abortions alone. Takalkar referenced another study that found an increase between breast cancer rates and the use of oral contraceptives.
Dr. Joel Brind, professor at Baruch College at the City University of New York, puts these figures into perspective:
"There are over a billion women in India and China alone. If half of them have an abortion and the lifetime risk of breast cancer goes up a modest 2 percent, that comes out to 10 million women."

I don’t doubt this study, but I don’t understand what would cause the increased risk.
THere has long been an observed link which has long been denied by Planned Parenthood and others who seek to promote abortion.
Unnatural hormone fluctuations.
Same with the birth control pill.
Meanwhile, Susan G Komen continues to siphon donations to Planned Parenthood, the largest promoter and supplier of abortion in the US.
In brief, pregnancy causes breast tissue to differentiate and mature into milk producing areas. At the end of the pregancy this ‘cell change’ signal is turned off.
A natural miscarriage also results in this signal being tunred off.
An abortion does not result in the signal being turned off and produces an unending stream of cell changes. Some of which are cancerous.

There are many different types of breast cancer - some genetic - but all (I understand), to be hormonal.
As a breast cancer survivor - I can state emphatically that I had no abortions or miscarriages. However, I am still convinced that those pills that we were encouraged to consume in the 60’s to dry up breast milk may have been culpable. Formula was deemed as healthy by physicians and convenient in maternity hospitals.
Interesting thought. I’d forgotten about those pills they gave to dry up milk.
In simple terms, when a women becomes pregnant her body is flooded with hormones that begin the process of numerous changes that need to occur to prepare the body for having a baby. Obviously some of those occur in the breast. When the the pregnancy is ended before term those changes are also halted midstream. Since the baby is never born the breast never get to the point of milk production, but rather stay in a partially changed state of rapid cell growth and change thus setting up the possibility for cancerous cells to form.
