Since 1941, comic book fans have followed the exploits of teenaged Archie Andrews and his friends. This July, they'll find out how he dies.
"Life With Archie" #36 hits stores on July 16, and CNN can reveal exclusively that it tells the story of how Archie sacrifices himself to save a friend.
Few details are known, but it seems fitting that Archie would go out a hero. The 37th issue one week later will end the series.
The "Life With Archie" series has been telling the stories of possible future Archie scenarios for the past few years, and so Archie will continue to be alive in the comics set in the present day. 14 comics that caused controversy 14 comics that caused controversy
CNN spoke with Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater (son of Archie creator John Goldwater) about the upcoming issues.
CNN: Can you explain the "Life With Archie" series for the uninitiated?

I always thought Betty was the hotter of the two, just like Maryann from Gilligans Island and Bailey from WKRP..
My God, that song is crime before God..
Shot by Veronica on Mount Betty?
I'd invite you to go to places like the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, or the BIG Comic Con in San Diego, or go to any of the dozens of comic book conventions that happen every year in the US and overseas. Talk to the people who draw them, talk to the people who run the multi-million dollar businesses that produce them...and THEN ask that question.
Contrary to popular belief, comic book fans are not fat, smelly, socially-inept Obama voters that live in their parent's basements (although, granted, some are...).
I am not trying to berate or criticize...I just believe you'd be quite surprised at who still reads comic books.
You beat me to it!
Fair enough. And I know there are all kinds of genres of comic books....but I wonder how the older ones like Archie are doing, as opposed to some of the more modern ones.
Let Archie get laid first
Good. The series turn libtard with fag characters introduced...
“Shot by Veronica on Mount Betty?”
No, Betty’s been dead for years. She drowned and was found face down in Veronica Lake.
The quiet ones like Betty and Mary Ann were hotter, and they have the tendency to go wild in bed too XD
Some people take their cartoon characters WAY too seriously.
Boo, hiss! [Very funny!]
Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofsteader, Howard Wolowitz and Raj Koothrapali.
But they don’t read Archie!
And Clayton, Sidney, Muhammad and Jugdish.
Joss Whedon, Kevin smith, Nathan fillion, Wesley snipes, Zachary Snyder, Robert Rodriguez to name a few. The watchmen, sin city, and the 300 and the walking dead are all comic books.
Having a hard time seperating Archie from Scooby Doo characters.
But do they read comic books like Archie?
“and Bailey from WKRP”
By orders of magnitude.
