Earlier this morning we posted a report titled "Apple's iPhone is King of Manhattan as Shown in Stunning Map." In that report we covered Business Insider's viewpoint that the iPhone's success in Manhattan proved the great divide in America between the rich and poor. They chose a series of New York maps to prove their point. However, that was a subjective slant to support their position. While I appreciate their report bringing some of this to light, the fact is that if you work with the source mapping service, you'll find a somewhat different reality that expands on Business Insider's viewpoint. Our report will provide with a large selection of maps outside of New York that paints a slightly different picture of the iOS vs. Android War.
A Peak at a Few Larger Cities in the US & Canada
Below you'll see a series of Mapbox created maps of twitter traffic showing whether a city is for iOS or Android. In larger cities we're able to tell that Apple's iOS is strongest. It's quite consistant. But I don't believe that this directly links to having to be rich. I don't believe it's only about the "great divide."

“At Intel, 60 percent of employee donations were in support of Proposition 8. By contrast, at Apple, 94 percent of employee donations were made in opposition to Proposition 8. The opposition was even higher at Google, where 96 percent of employee donations were against it, including $100,000 from co-founder Sergey Brin.”
I dumped my iPhone when they pulled Bitcoin apps from the app store. Very happy with the Android, glad I did it.
It could all just mean apple users are more likely to use twitter and/or post more often
Some people need constant reinforcement of their choices in life.
I saw an TV ad for a $49 Android TracPhone tonight with a $7 a month plan. . . No data. Just phone. No messaging. Just voice. But it WAS an Android touch phone. THERE are the huge numbers of Android phones.
In tablets, there are millions of sub-7" TOY Android tablets being made that have 2GB or even less memory by no name makers being sold for $50 or even less. Many of these are preloaded with apps and have no WIFI and cannot connect to the Internet but they are STILL counted as Android tablets. These inflate the Android tablet market share.
Samsung admitted that 2/3rds of the Android "smartphones" they shipped last year were actually feature phones, incapable of most of the functions that define a true smartphone.
Apple's true market share is far higher than it seems in the actual smartphone market and true tablet markets if those who counted these markets accurately categorized what they were counting instead of including toys and crippled bargain-basement phones in the high-end smartphone market.
Fine. You just go on believing that. I'm not the one making snarky, insulting ad hominem remarks about users of products I don't use. Are you familiar with the concept of projection?
That's a fair observation. Or possibly it means that iOS devices are easier to use on the Internet. However, Android devices are claiming easy Twitter integration in the OS. . . so, perhaps not?
We are a house divided. I love my iPhone and iPad, and my husband loves his Samsung Galaxy and Kindle.
I love Apple’s ability to connect anywhere and its speed.
Overall, I hate the graphics.
Still in awe of this new iPad Air.
Wireless printed from a HP 2540 without
any setup what so ever.
Bit pricey tho.
Incredible graphics.
Huh? Why is there a noun where the verb is supposed to be?
Appartently the Patently Apple staff doesn't have a proof reader...on staff. Or worse, they do and he/she is only semi-literate.
We are happy to have provided you with a shred of self-importance by allowing you to post here. The alternative might have been the indiscriminate kicking of a stray dog and we here at Free Republic are against animal abuse and thus are happy to provide this harmless outlet to you.
From the link, under the USA graphic....
In an overview map of the United States, it almost mirrors the Democratic-Republican landscape. It’s a battle between larger cities vs small towns and rural areas.

Hmmmm. Wonder what kind of phones the free 0phones are.
I don’t care if I’m the last Android user on Earth. I prefer Android and that’s where I’ll stay.
I dont care if Im the last buggy user on Earth. I prefer horses and thats where Ill stay.
; )
I don’t buy the implications of this analysis. I see other techno-trends and movements.
3 of the 4 iPhones in my family have been replaced with Android devices (2 HTC1’s and an LG G2). The 4th will replace his iPhone with another HTC1 in two months.
Apple refuses to offer a larger display. I’m older and need a more screen real estate for my aging eyes to support a larger font selection. I guess this is lost on the “human-factors” expert 30-somethings over at Apple. (I don’t need to one-hand a phone that I cannot see.)
Finally, neither I nor my sons want to be tied to OSX or Windows; we’re Linux geeks.
This site needs to get somebody who is more than just semi-literate to write for them, it’s an embarrassment to all the creative professionals, copywriters and editors who predominately use Apple products. “Peak” for peek? “Consistant?’
Please.
