This happened to me on SR 41 in Tampa on Monday March 24th. This pathetic excuse for a human being tailgated me for about three minutes. After about a minute, and me shaking my head, I pulled out my phone and started recording. I couldn't move over because there were trucks in the right lane, and I sure as heck wasn't going to speed on a rainy day with the roads being as slick as they were. I was turning left in about a half-mile when this happened. Now bear in mind, that this guy had already passed a truck in a left turn lane, was tailgating and driving recklessly on a wet slick road, wasn't paying attention, and all in all being an ignorant ass. Not once was I mouthing off, I never brake checked him, and in fact until I watched the video after the accident I didn't even know he shot a bird at me because I wasn't looking at him at all, I was paying attention to the road while holding the phone up with my right hand. I've recorded circumstances like this before, catching idiots doing stupid things, but never ever had this happen.
He initially fled the scene of the accident, but thanks to this video he has been caught and charged. Massive props to the Sheriffs Department and most especially the Highway Patrol who responded to the scene. This moron could have easily killed somebody with his moronic behavior, and my laughing at the end would have been replaced with tears. Needless to say though, I've never seen Karma come back so fast.
*****EDITED TO ADD******
WOW! I go to work and come back to over 600,000 views and find it's on theblaze.com and various other media sites. I'm flabbergasted! (love for an excuse to use that word). I'm also a little saddened and shocked at some of the comments. After the umpteenth death threat and billionth time being called a b!#$h/c$%t/whore/slut/add whatever epithet you want... I am extremely amazed at how rude people are.
Apparently people seem to think that they were right there and know exactly what was going on. You weren't there. You don't know what happened other than the truth that I told. And apparently I did get a comment of someone who he had done this same thing to... thank you for that.
I appreciate the comments of those that, even if they disagreed with me, they didn't resort to bullyish behavior, they stated their response and I respect that. To those that wished death upon me, I truly hope your life isn't as miserable as you portray online. Because some of those comments belong to people that belong in a psycho ward, or at the very least, anger management/therapy. They were rude, uncalled for, and just downright mean.
So because of those hateful warmongers, I have disabled all commenting on this video. Have fun talking about me in your forums, and on Reddit, or wherever else you talk smack on. Just know... I won't be there. I think my ears are itching... somebody must be talking about me. Where's my Q-Tip?
Goodbye and have an awesome and amazing rest of your day. I'm gonna go pet my dog, feed my fish, watch some TV, and sit my "fat" self on my sofa ;)
Are you certain it was his speed varying, or was she trying to prevent him from passing? Not out of the question, given her prior controlling behavior.
The guy in the truck showed her didn’t he.
I simply do not agree with all the “get out of way way because I want to speed
“ types, although I do NOT routinely drive in the left lane.
I am tired of their attitude and if that includes you,so be it.
Not every law is just. We each have our own list of those we believe are not.
It occurred to me that if the vast majority of people actually discouraged instead of winking at illegal and destructive behaviors then there would be less need for laws, police, courts, and prisons. IF speeding was not winked at,persons driving the posted limit would not be a problem. So new laws punishing people obeying the speed limits in order they not inconvenience other people who routinely break those speed limit laws is an illogical position and response to traffic issues. If the limits are too low then raise them.Encouraging disregard of the basic laws has resulted in only adding ever more laws that complicate life.
Agree.. here in The Peoples Republic of Maryland all lanes are equal and there are no passing lanes so to speak.
Washington state on some of the back roads they have signs that specifically state more than 5 cars behind you pull over or you’ll be ticketed.
And she got what she wanted, too, didn’t she. Cackled with glee, posted it for the world to see as she’d done many times before. Woo-hoo, hear her roar.
Who provoked the situation and how could it have been avoided? Is this woman blameless? No, she is not.
Thread should be a good read.......
I saw the video. IMHO, the accident was caused by the truck driver being so dedicated to giving this lady the finger that he skidded out. At the end, it is his fault.
There was a lot of traffic. She was passing a lot of trucks. If you are passing a lot of traffic on your right, and you plan on turning left shortly, you don’t get out of the lane. Everyone says, oh, she says it was going on for three miles, so how could she be turning - but in traffic like that, it can happen. The guy wanted HER to dodge in and out of semi tractor trailer traffic in the rain at a high rate of speed - after all, he was willing to do it, as soon as he got a chance!
Was she a little rude? Maybe. I certainly wouldn’t have laughed. Was the guy a total jerk who totaled his own truck and it was all his own fault? Yes.
You’re right.
The guy wasn’t a dumbass before she MADE him a dumbass.
And the woman suddenly became a controlling, deliberately provocative driver recording the negative reactions of drivers surrounding her on that very day, right?
The person driving the car that shot the video caused the
wreck. That person has no reason having a drivers license.
I hope the cops or the driver of the other vehicle can
track down who posted that video and hold them accountable.
Lane hogs are worthless low life control punks. The person
laughing at the guy in the wrecked truck at the end of the
video is a low life, lower than an Obama.
In the video, beginning at 1:03, he pulls into the right lane. As he passes on the right, he looks out his window back at the driver. It appears that he then slows down to get next to her car, but slowed down a bit too much, so he sped up to catch up, just to flip her the bird.
Of course, none of us were there. I could be wrong.
i'm calling bs on the driver. he claims the incident lasted over 3 minutes ... at 55 mph it takes just over 30 seconds to cover a half mile
in any case, after watching the video, the "tailgater" seems no closer than is typical on chicago's expressways most days
I actually watched the video. If you do, you will notice that there is no traffic in the right lane. When she finally passes the two pickups on her right, leaving an opening for him to pass, you can see him pull up, then you see him fall behind a bit, indicating she sped up to prevent him from getting in front of her.
From her laughing voice, near the end of the video, she is a black woman who is overjoyed that the "redneck" got into an accident because of her.
Looks to me as if she sped up. Could be wrong, but given the prior controlling behavior and the apparent desire to provoke other drivers into hit-worthy YouTube videos, it stands to reason.
There you go, now that’s a good reason for becoming a dumbass.
Become a dumbass because of what someone else does, that’s the ticket.
OK, you’ve made your stand with the person going around deliberately provoking other drivers so she can post them on YouTube for her own self-aggrandizement.
“Dumbass” takes many forms.
I think the filmer had decided from the start of things, that she was going to screw with this guy. That's WHY she was recording.
The make of car says a different sort of Democrat.
“She had plenty of chances to move into the RH lane...”
Then the speeder did too. He should take care of himself and drive around if he wants to speed like a psycho.
