I find the series so far to annoy me. Tyson doesn’t have a natural, strong voice and (not being an actor) he just reads lines in a script. He calls something a fact, like that settles it. Except for facts that later turn out be be non-facts. And the computer graphics, the stupid space/time/dimension craft he flies in, the cartoon religion bashing. And the commercial interruptions.
Thankfully, its a turkey, so his CGI theatrics and attacks will be footnotes of broadcasting history.
True. If this were on PBS, it would be repeated ad nauseum.
Did PBS pass on this because they knew it was going to be a turkey?
I think they must have known that most Americans today are glued to Honey Boo Boo and Dance Moms.

Heh, I know John. Nice guy, well spoken. I’m more interested in the show as an outside observer hoping for something that kindles interest in astronomy and science, but the vibe I’ve been getting from people about it has not been terribly positive. The visuals are great, but it seems to misfire elsewhere, especially the constant use of cartoons.
Mrs. Fierro heard me watching episode 2 and asked, “what, is this some sort of comedy?”
Tyson is excellent - most of the time, but not all the time.
And the use of cartoons is bad.
Thus far, I give it **½ out of ****. I would give the 1980 show **** out of ****.
The tone was set with deliberate falsehoods about Brutus and the church. I predict more and, ore global warming environmental propoganda heading our way. These people simply can not stop thmselves. I won’t waste my time.
I stopped paying too much attention when Tyson referred to Comets as dirty snowballs when we’ve known for almost ten years now, after numerous fly-bys, a couple of probe touch-downs, and the Deep Impact Space Mission where we Rammed Comet Tempel 1 with a 600 pound hunk of copper, that there is no ice or water on any comet we’ve encountered, and, except for their orbit, they are essentially indistinguishable from any other asteroid. If he insists on sticking to outdated, falsified science on that, then how much of the rest is worth watching? How much credibility can I give to ANYTHING else the man says? I decided very little.
It’s so disappointing. The man has no gravitas and talks like he’s talking to 6 year olds instead of adults. I don’t remember Sagan presenting opinion so often and so far left during his cosmos run.

Pretty sure your information is incorrect regarding ice and water in comets.
It’s especially insulting when, on the second show on evolution, they attempt to steal Christian terms like “Tree of Life”, and repurpose them for purely secular use.
Cultures and religions long before Christianity had stories about a tree of life.
Dozens and dozens of cultures and religions used trees in their symbolism, including many predating Christianity, like ancient Egypt, ancient Persia, ancient China. Even mesoamerican cultures used the symbolism of a tree to depict life.
Watched the first episode with my kids (high school age) -not bad. Second episode - boring. 3rd episode - after the first five minutes - we switched to DVR’d Jeopardy. Removed series from recording list. No new science, bad cartoons, boring host, leftist agenda. Too bad - I was hoping is was gonna be good.
