After tonight, my 10 day outlook is for mid to high 40s at night. Lots of stuff will go out into the cold frame tomorrow. Glad the tobacco worked for you. Remember, each one gets to be 5ft tall or so. ;)

Wow! Be careful. Living alone can make small accidents into big disasters. Yours was no small accident, either. Did you go get pictures taken?

“Wow! Be careful. Living alone can make small accidents into big disasters.” Yes, I know, but I can't find husband material who knows how to garden. :o)

“Yours was no small accident, either. Did you go get pictures taken?”

No. I put ice on my hand and wrist as blood vessels were broken and pouring blood and ice on a finger of left hand as it stung with blood pouring into it. There was only one place on the top of my foot, about the size of a dime and I put ice on that but it seemed okay.

I woke up in the night with just the cover pressure killing that foot and threw cover off it and went back to sleep. When I saw the foot in the morning, it was swollen and black and blue with blood in it and I could not walk on it. I could not have gotten to the doctor unless I called an ambulance. I got downstairs and got food and sat in my chair the rest of the day, up to bed at end of day, and back in the chair the next day and that went on for several days. After two weeks, the foot looked better but I still couldn't walk on it very well at all. Make a doctor's appt. for the next Monday and before that Monday the foot got better, so I canceled that appointment.

One thing I should have done is get out a walker I had for my husband, and used that to help navigate around the room. I actually have two of those and could have put one upstairs, too, to help me around the bedroom/bathroom.

Where were the walkers? Outside in the storage room. I need to put those in a spare bedroom so I can get to them. Folded up they take up very little room. Well, I'll move them inside, lesson learned.

It could have been worse. I was going down a small ramp onto the bottom deck when I tripped and that threw me forward and I couldn't stop and didn't stop until my head crashed into the glass door. I sat there before I moved to check my head and there was no blood and I could think. I checked my arms and legs and they worked. I watched myself the rest of the day and if I had started getting sleepy, I would have called 911 because getting sleepy would mean I had a concussion or brain damage. That place on my head got a bit sore but I didn't have a bump.

So, I was lucky my head was okay and I dealt with the rest of it. One second you are fine and the next second you aren't. Just like your scooter overturning and that put you in a bad way instantly.

Maybe you should put an ad out for a single, male gardener, must be good looking and wealthy and have ample rich soil. ;)

I was lucky in that my wife was with me and saw everything. I was on the side of the house by the woods and could not be seen from anywhere else on the property, otherwise, if she was not home, I would have been in as jam until she got home and came looking for me.

Same deal when I had my life changing trauma in ‘08, glad I was at work and not in my motel room.

At least we don’t have to take a hammer to the rain barrels. We have snow all over the place. Today it got to be 1 degree above freezing, and supposed to continue a warming trend for a few days.

I’ll be getting out of the house briefly tomorrow.

We finally have warmed to a little above freezing and supposed to contiue for a few days. I think about getting one of those small greenhouses about the size of a bookshelf to use.

However my real desire is a sunroom built on my back patio with window all around and a skylight, and lots of plants growing in the winter time including 2 or 3 lemon trees.LOL

If you still have our contact info, don’t hesitate to call us in the event of another accident like this. If you don’t have our numbers, FReepmail me and I will give you both. Carol was very saddened tonight when she heard what happened and you were alone needing help. We can at least bring you some food or run to Walgreens for you. If you ever eat any of Carol’s cooking, you will want to move in over here! I could have gotten the walker from the storage room for you.

When I was young and single, I got one of those asian flu that was so bad. I lay in bed for 2 weeks after going to the dr, too sick and weak to eat or drink. I did not yet have insurance and needed to be in the hospital. I was severely weakened for a month afterward. My point is, I know what it is like to be alone and knocked off your feet. We can help.

Neem oil works for some stuff, but don't put too much as it can kill the plants. There should be directions on the container to use.

I just plain ole water to spray off stuff, and then after they dry a little I use a homemade brew to spray them with. I pick off tomato horn-worms by hand. I put beer in tuna cans sunk into the soil for slugs.

Take I head of garlic, smashed and 1 onion chopped and put into a quart jar. Put in a Tablespoon of cayenne pepper. Fill it with nearly boiling water and let it sit for 24 hours.

Strain the mixture and put into a spray bottle. Add a drop or two of dish-washing liquid and cooking oil or neem oil. Spray the plants as needed. If it rains you will have to respray.

My organic gardening books all say that if the soil is right, the bugs won't infest the whole garden. I also stagger my plantings. Some times the winter crop is planted because it helps to fight bugs that might hurt the spring crop, and of course I practice rotation planting.

Some kimchee is very garlic, some is very fish, some is very fire. So, a Tex/Mex version might be very do-able. I Love kimchee. I absolutely love it.

Thanks for those links, I have been exploring them. As you know, I like to grow a few things indoors during the winter.
