Could it Swallow up all American's Wealth within one Generation; the Transformative Effects of the Administrative State and of Obamacare may result in the ultimate property distribution for MOST Americans if their medical care leaves them a ward of the State's Inheritance Laws....
yes. some people expect “the state” to provide inheritances for their heirs ...
it is like welfare cheats, but in one big lump sum..
I don’t plan to be “around”...
The doomed Obmacare juggernaut will like a wounded Godzilla continue to thrash about wrecking havoc in its death throes. This fall millions covered under employer sponsored health plans will be getting their cancellation notices if their employers have not already ended coverage. Private health insurance companies will face staggering losses and be begging for government bailouts and the cost of health insurance will skyrocket. The number of people without health insurance will dramatically increase and Medicaid roles will swell. Medicare will become almost worthless as more and more healthcare providers will no longer accept Medicare patients. Hospital emergency rooms will become the source of primary care for millions of people who cannot now not afford insurance coverage, but make too much to qualify for Medicaid.
There will be pressure for the government to do something to end the chaos and of course Obama will be waiting with a plan for single payer socialized medicine that the appeasers in the GOP leadership will be all too willing to accept.
Being “post-trib, pre-wrath”, I do. Otherwise, I would have just stayed in Seattle.
Only Democrats voted for Obamacare, and therefore all Democrats are to be opposed.
RINOs propose fixes to Obamacare, and therefore all RINOs are to be opposed.
Comments BUMP in a great thread BUMP!
Dont sign up, and dont pay the fine/tax...
You’re sittin’ pretty, then - now, can you get an insurance company to sell you an “unapproved” policy?
The only people who can survive in such a scenario are the super-rich who can afford the huge health care costs, and the perpetual dependent class, those who have nothing to lose to begin with.
Then again, if I were not a Christian I may have a different attitude about extending my life at all costs.

We’re planning on going the Christian healthsharing ministry route if my employer plan doesn’t work out.
I couldn’t agree more that that, or a version of it, is the plan.
In politics as with physics, every action generates a reaction. For example, the redlight cameras. A study is performed saying that 3% of the 100,000 cars passing this light every day run it. Well make .03 x 100,000 x $100. But the moment the cameras are installed the run-rate drops to a fraction of the previous rate. The same is true for taxes, which never take in what their proponents say they should. People will adjust to the new confiscation. They may put their belongings in living trusts. Congress will make certain that trusts cant be attached because that is where all the big political money is. The Kennedys will be rich for the foreseeable future not because any of them work, but because the family money is safe in trusts that cant be touched. Poorer people may convert to cash or gift their wealth away before they die. Yes, government can and will adapt. But theyll do it in the mode of the red lights, where when the revenue drops they shorten the yellow light interval and increase the fines for those who do run it. But they wont get all of what theyre after, just a portion. Eventually, the law will change and well be safe again. Politics ebbs and flows like the tide. Were in a liberal flood tide right now. But there may come a conservative flood tide too. Its almost inevitable that it will, eventually, come.
I see your point, but I believe I disagree. Socialismalong with Communism, Progressivism, and generally all ideological positions from the Leftredefines the terms "Love and charity." It is not merely a matter of excluding love and charity, instead, by redefinition of the terms, it is able to accrue greater power.
With the firm belief that the individual is in no position to determine what is best for themselves or what is best for a fellow human being, individual acts of love and charity are redefined to mean signing over one's wealth and the fruits of one's labor to a technical apparatus that is purportedly in a better position to make those kinds of decisions. Thus the entire means of love and charity is mediated through the State. The bureaucracy distributes as it will because the State is smarter, more benevolent, and has more information than individual members.
Thus, compliance with the demands of the State becomes the new definition of love and charity. Welcome to Animal Farm.
My thoughts exactly.
I just hope that some of us will be around to see it and enjoy its fruits.
“I just hope that some of us will be around to see it and enjoy its fruits. “
It’s very odd. Having studied history and read about the terrible deprivations visited on the populace and the soldiers of any revolution, for they never go as envisioned by their proponents, I ask everyone I can if they think we’re heading into one. The “yes we are” group far outweighs the “no we aren’t group.” Of course the sample of people I talk to tend to be conservative. Very scary.
But their view is that the takers and their political masters are in such control now that only armed conflict will dissuade them from taking everything.
Personally, I expect balkanization. The west coast and the east coast will go full commie and the rest will go the other way to varying degrees. I hope we don’t end up using nukes on each other, but surely Lee and Grant would have if they’d had them.
what is this “unmentionable zone” of which you speak?
Thanks.
The lack of fire-in-the-belly in our Federal Politicians has resulted in the permissive tolerance of Constitutional violations by the NINE SUPREMES, the Administration, and Congress.
IOW, the US Federal Government is now a lawless parasite on the taxpaying workers.
To beat the loyalists to our dysfunctional US Federal Government, requires us to use their own rules against them.
For example, what if all of us voted by dutifully casting our ballots, but left blank all of the RINO and Democrat slots on the ballot?
We would be using their rules by voting, but by abstaining (=leaving blank) the uncounted abstain votes would outnumber the votes counted, and thus informing them that the winners were not representing the majority of those who voted.
Levin and others have great, grandiose ideas, but the low information voter has zero interest in them; the professional politicians denies that they exist; and the Leftstream Media ignores them.
Hence, we need to hit them between the eyes with a sledgehammer in the form of non-conventional voting by write ins or blank slots, depending on the local voting rules.
Those that, thanks to ZeroCare, can’t afford health insurance and, in spite of Zerocare, are not required to have it. So they no longer have health insurance.
“Thus the entire means of love and charity is mediated through the State.”
Actually, you expressed quite well that which I was trying to convey. The State is incapable of love or charity. For once such acts of love or kindness become ‘forced’, that which it is trying to emulate is lost. In its attempt to play God, the State becomes nothing more than a giant combine.
