A giant valley deeper than the Grand Canyon is buried beneath several miles of glacial ice in West Antarctica, according to a new study by British scientists.
The sub-glacial canyon is nearly two miles deep, 200 miles long and 15 miles wide.

Ping!
I'm concerned about what they'll find if they dig down deep enough into this chasm. . .
No matter who wins, humanity loses.

No doubt this hole is the result of Capitalist exploitation of Mother Gaia’s natural wealth.
The only thing that will rectify the situation will be a $100B reparation payable to the UN and Federal regulation of/and a new tax on ice cubes.
End anthropogenic sub glacial erosion NOW!

"End anthropogenic sub glacial erosion NOW!" I know the thread is short thus far, but that's definitely a winner!

I wanna hike through it...Yeah, it's the height of summer so it will only be -50F with a 70 to 100 MPH wind. Thick boots and a good pair of mittens and you will be good to go. Send plenty of pics.

"It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway traina shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us, crushing the frantic penguins and slithering over the glistening floor that it and its kind had swept so evilly free of all litter."

These “scientists” can make up any tall tale and we are supposed to believe it? Prove it!

I’m thinking the temp is a constant of 50’ish and no wind, like most caves.
The tough part would be provisioning.
I need one of those new robo pack mules to carry my food and whatever else Id need.
Having never gone more than 1/2 mile in a cave I would have no idea how to take something like that on.
Probably need professionals with me.
Be kewel to explore something almost no one else is gonna.
Like that giant hole recently found in China. I’d love to run around in there but, you’d need to setup provisions down in the hole part

"The Land That Time Forgot"
"Negotiating an underwater tunnel [beneath the ice] to gain the island's interior, those aboard U-33 are amazed to discover a tropical prehistoric world kept warm by volcanic forces.
Here dinosaurs that should be long extinct live and roam, as do a curious race of humanoid savages that appear to exhibit all the various phases of Man's evolutionary development. To survive long enough to repair and replenish the U-boat, wartime enemies must put aside their differences and cooperate with one another. But not everyone is playing from the Kumbaya songbook...

That hole has been known about for a very long time. Lots of speculation from
the UFO crowd because if you can't explain it, throw fiction at it.

“Channels of this magnitude have been observed before elsewhere, but their formation has been attributed to purely oceanic processes rather than meltwater exiting the grounded ice sheet. Now, with the connection to the meltwater system established, readily obtainable observations from the channels have the potential to shed light on how meltwater flows at the base of an inaccessible kilometer-thick ice sheet. The study received funding from Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the European Space Agency (ESA).”
