A small boat rescues a USS West Virginia crew member from the water after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Two men can be seen on the superstructure of the USS West Virginia, upper center, with the mast of the USS Tennessee in the background. Dec 7 1941. |

I can’t even imagine the number of men, size/scale of machinery and equipment, or even how many years, it took to clean-up Pearl Harbor of all the debris, after the 12/7 attack.
Amazing pic.
growing a ping list for this, let me know if you’d like on.
Anyone who has the Military Channel on their TV cable service can watch the films that were taken that day and afterwards.
We watched it and though it was informative—it was also very sad.
Thanks For the Ping!
Remember Pearl Harbor.

Maybe it’s me - but there seems be a dearth of recognition of the “date that will live in infamy” this year.
Sad ping.
Had access to the south tip of Waipio Point for some testing. The superstructure of the Arizona is said to have been left there after it was removed.
There was indeed a bunch of rusted steel plating piled around, some with lots of rivets. Nothing recognizable.
Lots of wood from wharfs and such, too. Figures lots of the docks got the heck blown out of them and had to be removed.
