OAK FOREST - An assignment sent home from an Oak Forest, IL high school government class is raising eyebrows among parents who are shocked by the questionnaire they and their children are required to fill out. The questionnaire (below) has the parents identify their positions on a number of highly-charged issues, and then places them on a "political spectrum."

Interesting the questionnaire was from this place called Center For Learning....I looked at some of the lesson plans they have. I am so thankful my children are grown but dang I worry about my grand children.

On the one hand I think it is great that the school is encouraging students to have old fashioned dinner table discussions with their parents about important issues. We have lost that in many homes today.
But I don’t think they should have to report the specific findings in class or to the teacher.
If you don’t immediately yank your kids out of a school that does something like that then you deserve whatever happens to you and/or your kids. Home school, private school or stick them in a closet with some water and cow manure but for crying out loud don’t leave them with those commie perverts!
I’ve sat around in Germany for twenty-odd years....so I’ve had time to observe Germans and walk through the 1920-1930 era in terms of events and reactions.
Hitler comes with three interesting attachments.
First, he was a war vet, and this was a big deal with any German in the late 1800s, and it was especially true in the 1920s. The minute you were noted with any medal or any honor....it got you a special status in being accepted by the public.
Second, in the late 1920s....came radio, which helped to pump his message across the country. In the 1930s, came cinema and gimmick Nazi-theme public media episodes. Across the nation, everyone saw positives in the media and on the screen. There was no Fox News in 1936 in Germany.
Third and final...folks continue to hear constantly of how Hitler took away the weapons. Well...it’s mostly slanted history. Fear of a Nazi coup....before they came to power...pushed the legit government into gun control. They already had effective anti-gun rules in place....before Hitler arrives to the leadership role. Hitler simply tightens them up a notch or two.
After WW I and the imposed peace treaty...Germany was a miserable place for several years. Most every single German suffered to some degree. A lot of German men didn’t return from war. It was bad times. So when the positive theme of Nazism came around, it was a relatively easy sell to feel good about politics, Nazi leadership, and Hitler’s message. If you notice...by the late 1930s...Germany was just about to enter a recession from all of their gov’t spending programs. Without the war, Hitler’s message by 1942 would have come to a conclusion because of serious economic issues. The war simply kept him afloat.

The UAW flyers at my job have routinely misspelled Dick Cheney as “Chaney”. I could never understand it either, the correct spelling is easily found by googling.

When I get one of those robot phone poll calls, I always identify myself as a young black woman Democrat. If the call asks for sexual orientation, I hit the number for "lesbian" for good measure. Then I reply negatively to anything about Obama.

My knowledge of WWII is extensive. It started at a very young age because my mother had kept EVERY Life magazine from 1984 January through 1949. The build up was obvious in hind sight. Winston Churchill’s works I consider to be absolutely a must for understanding.

I don’t think so. Germans have a long history of following those who are in charge… not unlike the slave state of Russia. That is not true for Americans.
What seems to me to be happening is that the left has just decided to go balls out and do whatever they want. There is no push back from Congress because they are part of ‘the elite’….i.e. those benefitting from being ‘in power’. They like sucking at the teat so they will go along. Not true of the average citizen. That is why there are other parties and folks like the conspiracists.
What worries me I guess the most is the idea that some (and it is voiced on FR) espouse that says it is all rigged. We can’t do anything so I will not vote I will not participate. I will hide away and try to fight them off when they come to get me. It is this mind set that gives me the most trouble. Here we are faced with a clear and present danger and people run and hide.
If we do not stand up (and it may be too late I do not know) and stop this madness then we are no better than the Germans. I do not know how loud the call has to be to get people to be active, to vote, to contact their congress critters.
Sorry for the rant. I am probably preaching to the choir. But it seems that there are too many who gladly sit back saying oh let the dens win then people will see what it is really like. That will kill us all.
No that this too simple an answer. It happened long before the guns were taken away. I see it happening in America now. Those on the right who won’t vote because ‘the parties are all the same’. Those who say let the dens win and when they totally screw it up then we will be able to elect conservatives. You still have you guns but Ocare is starting to lock us into government control of everything. The guns will be the last thing to go. Executive orders galore, unconstitutional peer grabs, EPA rulings that are insane….. the congress has Harry Reid (a Brownshirt if there ever was one) to block all efforts at stoping it.
NOW is the time we MUST elect more folks like Ted Cruz….and Rand Paul. We need people of courage and conviction

Anecdote: I personally know one of the Durham Police officers involved in the investigation of the Duke Lacrosse case. I was told that Jerry Nifong was all that we thought he was, and more. I was told that the officers on the investigation did not like what they were doing, and thought the investigation was wrong, and the players innocent. Yet, I was told, they were given search warrants with a judge’s signature on them.
They served the warrants. They followed orders, even though they knew they were wrongly damaging innocent people’s lives.
Scientific: The Milgram Experiment, performed in the 1960s at Yale University, involved Americans as test subjects. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. If not, you should look it up.
People follow orders. No difference whether they are German, Japanese, Chinese, Rwandan, Pakistani...or American. No difference whether we agree with the orders or not. It is how we are psychologically wired.
When I was in law school, my Civil Procedure professor turned one class session over to a Holocaust survivor, who told us what he had to do to be the only member of his family to survive Auschwitz. At the end of the presentation Professor Harvey went to the podium and all he said was “Your duty as lawyers is to make sure this never happens again.” As the class left, I could hear my classmates talking. All of them said the same thing:
“That can’t happen in America.”
Yes it can. In fact, that attitude of denial almost guarantees that it will.
I was going with the Nonyadamnbidness Party, but I like yours better.
