Love the cranberries...I always looked forward to post Thanksgiving monster turkey sandwiches with mayo on one side and cranberry sauce on the other...YUM. Give me a quart of buttermilk to wash it down and I won`t need dessert :)

I guess I’m going off the reservation here, but, my favorite thanksgiving food is the cold turkey sandwiches the following day.

I love that. Fresh white bread, tomato, cold sliced turkey.

On the day itself, it’s sweet potatoes all the way.

My mother (94 and still going) has always made great stuffing - old school, nothing fancy, but tasty and moist.

I have a Chinese wife and so our Thanksgiving meal is a bit off the beaten culinary track too. Bok Choi stir fried with bacon to go with turkey and sweet potatoes

If it is made inside the bird, it is stuffing. If it is made outside the bird, it is dressing.

I always looked forward to dad making a big production the next day when he made turkey club sandwiches... lettuce, tomato, bacon, mayo, turkey... double deckers.

That sounds terrific!

IMO, tradition is what you make it. The special foods you enjoy most, family, maybe some friends to share it with.

No one can take that from you.

Some day, it might be a can of beans shared with an entire group of folks.

Giving thanks to God for our blessings is not about what is on the table. Right?

Your dad sounds like my PaPaw, and he's got good taste to boot!

Leftovers are the best part. Think about it. How many truly needy have leftovers? What a blessing.

And the stuffing is always better than the dressing.

We love Bok Choi. Am always looking to expand my Asian recipe collection so consider that ripped off, though I may add a dash of soy and sesame to it............

***

It’s a very old recipe from my grandmother - a cherry jell-o salad with pecans and a bottled Coca-Cola.

I’m not at home now but I can post it tomorrow!

(Love your tagline!)
