These moronic hunters actually shot and killed a rare albino moose

My, don't they look proud. But after shooting this rare albino moose near Belle Cote in Nova Scotia last week — and posting the pics to social media — the trio has sparked considerable outrage, particularly among the region's Mi'kmaq indigenous community.

These guys breached a kind of unwritten code of conduct that has also upset many in the hunting community.

My other thought as well.

This guy was at a disadvantage from predators anyway,
and his offspring also.

I don’t think that they should have shot it but having shot it I think it’s stupid to give the skin and head to the Indians.

Most hunters I know are almost reverent regarding nature and the environment. Hunters do far more good than these urban, armchair econazis spouting rules and regs. It’s surprising to hear that these hunters shot such a rare creature. Occasionally a fisherman here on the east coast will pull up a blue lobster. Invariably the lobsters end up being donated to an aquarium.

What laws did they break?

This isn’t about laws. It’s about common sense. Jerks like these help give hunters a bad rep.

Agree with you 100%. It’s dinner. With a white fur hide. So what?

For all of you who think that they did wrong - go to hell. What they did was legal and it’s none of your business. Let me guess, you’ve never actually killed an animal for your dinner? Those of us who grew up on farms or have hunted know that steaks don’t get manufactured in the back room at the market.

It is moronic because it is worth far more alive than dead.

How so? I'm trying to think of a way these hunters could have made money on the moose by leaving it alive, and I'm stumped.

If they had put the hide on Ebay, on the the other hand, they would probably would have made a nice bundle of cash.

So?

What they did was neither illegal, immoral or fattening.

Don't ya just love the "it's rare, it's special,,,so we gotta kill it!" mindset?

No more then I love the ""it's rare, it's special,,,so we gotta save it for no reason!" mindset.

Apparently these fearless "hunters" took it down from 300 yards with a semi-automatic. Really something to brag about, which they did.

Actually yes that is something to brag about. Hitting a moving target at three football fields away is not exactly the the easiest thing in the world. And "semi-automatic"? Really? That only describes 90% of hunting rifles.

Mighty hunters, indeed. Mighty jerks.

People don’t understand wildlife biology.
Albino moose/deer are rare because of a genetic mutation.
These animals might look pretty but removing them from the gene pool is beneficial.they are not an endagered species...

Worse, albino animals in the wild are normally the first targets of a predator, because they stand out. Rarely mate, because they normally have other defects as well as looking weird. Higher rates of cancer due to loss of pigmentation.

Makes a cool looking mount for your wall and the meat still tastes the same...

I would never hunt just for a trophy, that’s stupid on too many levels. But hunting for food in and of itself? I highly recommend it. Gives you a new perspective on going to the store and buying meat...

Albinism is not exactly a beneficial mutation.

There aren’t nearly enough of them to become a threat to the species.

Removing the albino moose from the population is a beneficial culling.

Same line of reasoning libs use for killing off babies that have birth defects.

It won’t look any different with vegetables in a curry gravy served over rice.

So a moose equals a human child in your mind.

Good to know.

One of my coworkers got an albino white-tail last year. There’s an albino wild turkey in a flock that wanders through my neighborhood, about once a week. And I did have an albino squirrel in the oak tree in my backyard, but a red-tail hawk got it a few weeks back.

Congratulations.

You have just revealed yourself to be one of the ilk that equates killing animals for food with killing babies. Most of the pro abortion crowd is also of your ilk.

I take it you are also in opposition to the rest of the values espoused on this site.
