Well it’s Baraq’s fault.
But then again I predicted nobody could get re-elected with $4 gas, 8% unemployment, and surging food prices....

CostCo gas station was JAMMED (Southern California) — we already pay about the highest prices in the entire nation and get hit with price hikes immediately. Clearly people know it’s coming.
Gas = $3.69

I had a jump in retail gas just the other day in Tampa FL, from $3.35 to $3.50.
Other FReepers mentioned it might have been part of the upcoming holiday weekend; also, the spot market may have effects on the retail as well.

$3.70 here in L.A. Been that way awhile. Nothing unusual to report, i.e. no lines, etc.
To: RIghtwardHo
Regular $3.28/gal in New Mexico.

“Up from 3.56 yesterday to 3.79 today in Michigan.”
In Florida you can’t increase the price of the gas you’re selling unless you’ve bought more gas at a higher price. So, you see tiny fuel trucks running from station to station in the dark of night. They pump 100 gallons and leave a bill at the higher price. This is done so that a store doesn’t have a lower price than others. That would mean they’d sell out of gas quickly. They don’t make much profit on gas, but they do make $16 on beer and cigarettes for every $1 of gas sold. That’s the reason. It’s not because there’s conspiracy to raise prices. The stores couldn’t care less as their profit is so low. They just don’t want to run out.

Ours has been in the $3.20 range here in Albuquerque for weeks now.

Not the nation, try Alaska. It’s probably around $4.50 there now. It was closer to $5 when I was there visiting our daughter in March.
