Would have been nice if all of us who pay taxes would get some return on our investments.

“I can think of many much more important inventions than silly putty.”

Well,,,, Silly Putty is a non-newtonian fluid, and as such, is quite interesting. I think there will be more developments using non-newtonian fluids in the future.

“Silly Putty was born out of desperation during World War II. Japanese forces had invaded rubber producing nations, limiting American access to the material. As a result, the U.S. military requested the private sector to create an alternative for the rubber used in boots and tires....”

I suspect that very few people know that prior to WW2, rubber (for tires or for whatever else) was 1: [derived from] a natural product which had to be imported from plantations in Indonesia and a few other places in the So Pacific. 2: Was pretty crappy.

Note also that the US military was the driving force behind the ubiquitous system of ISO shipping containers that the world now uses to move goods everywhere.

Lets not forget CDMA technology developed by Linkabit founders Viterbi and Jacobsen, who later founded Qualcomm, and led to the modern cell phone

My daughter is a paramedic. She still comes across people who use superglue to seal a deep wound. She usually sees them after the infection sets in. It seems the idiots did not “finish reading” the article where it was used as a short stop to treatment (in the context of deep bleeding wounds.).

Don’t use it if you are within calling distance of an ambulance. It causes more problems than it solves.

Suspect the Sphinx had his nose in ancient Egypt. I heard that the nose was shot off during French artillery practice when Napoleon was in Egypt.

We should place the word “Assault” in front of each of these and ban them! ;-)

The Napoleonic artillery practice is all myth to make the west look bad. It is rather well documented that iconoclastic muslims were responsible and that the vandalism occurred long before Napoleon's occupation of Egypt.

The Jeep was actually developed by American Bantom, but they did not have manufacturing capacity so it was turned over to Willy's Overland.

‘Assault’ GPS?

How does that work? By navigating you to a ditch or cliff?

***How does that work? By navigating you to a ditch or cliff?***

Remember, in the past there has been attempts by do-gooders to “demilitarize” civilian life by banning anything connected with the military or had a military beginning.

This all began after the murder of Bobby Kennedy back in 1968.

Remember back about 1969, the Tulsa antiques dealer who was raided for importing banned foreign military equipment? MUSKET FLINTS!

Then there has been several attempts to ban the use of empty military brass and empty metal ammo boxes.

Teflon used to coat gun barrels in machine guns.

I believe Teflon was originally used to make seals that wouldn't degrade for the first gaseous diffusion U-235 enrichment plant. Manhattan Project.

CDMA would not have been possible without the frequency hopping technology invented by Hedy Lamaar in 1942. It is used in CDMA, Bluetooth, and COFDM used in Wi-Fi network connections.
