The poor hostess told a very different story. Winfrey was browsing through some purses, and when she inquired about one particular model, the hostess suggested another, almost identical model, saying that while the other one would cost around 35k euros, the alternative one would cost much less and it's practically the same object, same model and material. Standard polite and helpful salesman behavior.

This just in, Oprah goes on rampage, eats Zurich !
It’s not the first time poor victim Orka has pulled out the race card.
Reminds me of the Eddie Murphy routine where everybody tells him that he’d better not go to Texas because everybody there is racist.
So he goes there just looking for racism, and some white guy comes up at the airport and asks him, “Excuse me, sir, is this your bag?”
And he responds, “YES THAT’S MY BAG......WHY? A BLACK MAN CAN’T HAVE A SUITCASE?”
Most intelligent people do. But it’s the MSM that keeps these idiots alive.
“Mzzzz. Winfrey, let me show you this bag in lovely chocolate leather.....WHOOPS”
We so need a Like button!
A lying negro. Imagine that!
What has not been mentioned in all this ‘racist’ BS is the fact that liberal/animal rights activist/champion of the poor and downtrodden Oprah was trying to buy a 50THOUSAND dollar alligator purse! Talk about hypocrisy!
And I also think she was angrier that she wasn’t recognized at all. She wasn’t just black- she was a black NOBODY to the store clerk!
Have any of you ever gone into a store and had the salesperson helpfully tell you that the item you were considering was expensive? Did it seem like an odd thing to say to a customer?
I'm no fan, but your claim simply isn't true. She is a self-made phenomenon. She started out as a news reader in Baltimore as a young woman, idolized Barbara Walters and worked her way up through her assertive personality to a talk show host appealing to the common humanity of white women as well as blacks, which made her a star. She has earned a reputation for large acts of generosity (although reportedly has no gift for the one-on-one). Due to her own business acumen she started the greatly successful television careers of Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, and to a lesser extent, Nate Berkus. Love them or hate them, they have generated a pile of money.
But around age 40, she began to change, and started with the spiritual mysticism crap as opposed to the Christianity of the majority of her fans of either race, and was also apparently heavily influenced by her gay make-up artists and stylists. She was also attending Rev. Wright's "church" for awhile. And women who accepted her living with a man unmarried when she was younger started to lose respect when this situation has continued on and on, to the present. Any man who did this would also be disrespected by the married women who made up her core audience.
She was always politically ignorant, and when the Zero came along, she fell for the skin color thing. Too bad. Her ratings began to tank badly; then she left prime time and started her own station when her menopausal energies began to sag. Trouble ever since. Same with all celebrities who shoot off their mouths about politics and alienate at least half their audience.
She can blame racism all she wants -- the racism was hers in plumping for a political candidate who has turned out to be the worst president ever.
Revolutionaries in any "ism" -- communism, feminism, whatever -- all have one thing in common: they hit 50 or 60 and become exhausted with "the struggle" and see that Utopia is not going to arrive in their lifetime. Then they get bitter, and nasty.
The only thing bigger than Winfrey’s pot of money is her ego. How dare you offer a cheaper product? Do you think I can’t afford the more expensive one?
Why would any salesperson prejudge who can buy something she is trying to sell. I call BS.
Pray for America to Wake Up
Your post is inaccurate -- it was 38K, not 50K. I've never known Oprah to be an animal rights activist -- she has always touted very expensive leather shoes and bags. And I sincerely doubt the clerk viewed her as a nobody. Nobodies cannot afford even to stay overnight in Switzerland.
I think the story as presented -- the clerk was just trying to show her a better value for the money -- is pretty much all that happened. Too bad Oprah failed at being just another upper middle class person who can afford to visit Switzerland. Most celebrities long for someplace where they can just be normal and not mobbed and fawned over for a brief while.
Hi, rr!
During my brief time at a retail job, I always tried to find the best value for the money for all my customers. Some of the items were overpriced; others were going to go on sale within one or two days. Many customers appreciated it and became my regulars. People who resented it were most likely people who were looking for a putdown, even though I did not intend one. As ye seek, ye find.
“They also dont care how important you think you are because they have diplomats, Arabs, billionaires and politicians around all the time and ignore them.”
I believe what you say. If you weren’t rude to the wealthy in Switzerland, why there’d be nobody to be rude to at all!
