Have any of you ever gone into a store and had the salesperson helpfully tell you that the item you were considering was expensive? Did it seem like an odd thing to say to a customer?
Hi, rr!
During my brief time at a retail job, I always tried to find the best value for the money for all my customers. Some of the items were overpriced; others were going to go on sale within one or two days. Many customers appreciated it and became my regulars. People who resented it were most likely people who were looking for a putdown, even though I did not intend one. As ye seek, ye find.
As a Walmart cashier, I've done it a lot when customers bring an item from electronics that we have at the register cheaper.
Yes, I have been in stores where sales people have steered me towards cheaper items, items that were very like the expensive ones. In fact I have had sales people tell me something would be on sale in a few days and if I could stand to wait that long it would be x amount of dollars cheaper. In the states most retail sales clerks don't get a commission so it is no skin off their nose which one they sell you.
