Also played Dr. Mark Piper (before McCoy) on Star Trek.
Yep. You can never go wrong with the Duke. I’ve probably watched ‘The Sons of Katie Elder’ 30 times and I’ll watch it another 30 times. Another of my favorites is ‘Trouble Along The Way’ where Wayne plays a football coach who gets hired by a Catholic college (which is not called Notre Dame in the movie, but is obviously what it’s supposed to be). If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. Wayne was a great actor even when it wasn’t a western or a war movie.
Isn't that the truth.
It seemed that typically a new commanding officer is trying to show who's boss and who's going to set priorities. Just when you figure out how to stay out of trouble and stay out of sight, a new commander comes along.
Bogie was only 5'8". He looked bigger because of his quite large head.
He wore 4" wooden blocks taped to his shoes in films so that in close-ups he could be a little taller than his leading ladies. Bergman was 5'9" in stocking feet and Bogie had to wear his wood blocks when they appeared together in "Casablanca".

Yup. It worked for a couple minutes then disappeared.
Throw in Sidney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre and you’ve got a blockbuster.
Heh... I just watched Falcon a few weeks ago. When I checked Wiki I found it was Greenstreet’s first movie.
It wasn’t his picture on the Gerber baby food jars?

It wasn’t his picture on the Gerber baby food jars? I guess that devastates my belief system.
I used to agree with you on that, but I recently watched Tootsie, Marathon Man, Little Big Man and the Graduate. He plays the same person in each one. Take a look for yourself.
My post was in reply to post 4, in which we find a photo of Dietrich and a man erroneously labeled "Chaplin."
Now that we've cleared that up... ;)
That’s right. I’d forgotten about that. Also saw Paul Fix not too long ago in an early “Six Million Dollar Man” episode, from the 1970s. That was right after I saw him in a good supporting role in a 1933 Ken Maynard western. Quite a long career.
Looks to be coxswain, which was boatswain mate 3rd class until after WWII. I wish I could see the specialty mark on his lower sleeve better.
