I've listened to Bob Grant off and on for years, starting with the afternoon show on WOR 710. He was a true original, doing political talk radio years before it was in fashion and during the height of the so-called 'Fairness Doctrine'. Grant's show has always been provocative and has spawned a host of imitators: he was the original 'Get off my phone' guy who had zero patience for nitwit lefty callers. In addition to never suffering such fools, he also has good regular callers such as 'Jimmy from Brooklyn', who intimately understands the nature of the threat posed by communists in and out of government.
Recently, however, his show has been cut to a mere 1 hour a week: Sunday afternoons from 1 to 2 pm Eastern. This in and of itself is a disappointment, but what is even more disappointing is the change in content: for the last few weeks, his show has devolved into a TMZ-type tabloid fest! For some reason, Bob has become obsessed with the Jodi Arias case, and has spent the majority of his scant air time talking with his lawyer friend Anthony Macree (sp?) about the minutiae of the case and wringing his hands about the outcome. This is all the while ignoring or glossing over real events in the news such as the Obama scandals: for example, he hasn't even mentioned the passing of Senator Lautenberg and Christie's reaction, which not long ago would have been his main topic for days.
So, it begs the question - Why? He's either trying to do a 'low-information voter' outreach ala Rush Limbaugh, or he's just deliberately trying to scuttle his ratings: I shut him off this past Sunday when him and Macree started discussing Casey Anthony.
Bob - what happened?

I’m in Japan , and listen to the podcast every Monday morning my time . His show has been 1 hour for quite a while now . Anyway , I agree that he has been spending an inordinate amount of time on trials and with Macree ( sp. ) . I’d rather he spent the entire show talking with Jimmy from Brooklyn .
I have listened to Bob since the mid 1980’s.
He is simply getting old. It is fun to hear some of the old callers that listened to him in the day, but he is not nearly as swift as he once was.
I love him dearly, but have felt that he needs to hang up the cleats for quite a while now.
Hey, Mario! Duz zay provinost spachim...I am sure I butchered that but what memories!
He is the best...No one could touch him and he has the greatest memory on earth.
Getting old sucks.
Those who are afraid of him are out there just waiting for him to say something politically incorrect, aka the truth, about the evil that surrounds us, aka the “progressive” Democrat Party (blanket name for socialists, communists, etc.), the Muzzies, and those who are unfit to live amongst us.
Bob Grant has provided millions with hours of entertainment. He has been therapy for so many who have endured the frustrations of having to deal with the ills of the day. May he continue to be on the airways for many years to come.
Maybe, with Obozo easily re-elected and Son of Sfacheem in the governor’s mansion, he has understandably given up, and would prefer to give up the fight in his remaining years. Who can blame him?
Grant is a legendary talk show host, unfortunately old age has caught up with him and he has lost his edge.
Bob should pack it in and enjoy retirement,
“sfacim?”
Sounds like that is exactly what he's doing....and getting paid for it.
RE: He just wants justice in these types of cases.
Well, I am more interested in the Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin case than the Jodi Arias case because of its LARGER implications. Can he do justice to that in one hour?
Bob is 84 years old. I haven’t heard his show since 2000 when I moved from NY to Louisiana. I miss his show and, more so, the wit he had when he was younger. He was showing some aging while I still lived in NY but I think that his show being cut did more harm to him mentally than his age.
I will always feel like he was an uncle to me and forever be indebted to the education I got from him.
Actually a little more insulting, but that is the gist of the word.
“Italian slang for “low life””
I know that! A great insult to mutter under one’s breath! Just questioning the spelling.
"Let's be heard!"
Another legendary NY talk show host was Barry Farber - I haven't lived in NY in decades, but I really loved listening to him. In fact, I remember Barry announcing they had caught "Son of Sam" (David Berkowitz, who lived just a mile of so from where I was living in Yonkers at the time).

Listening to podcast of today’s show ( 7/7 ) now ...First 10 minutes he rambled on and on and I couldn’d figure out what he was rambling on about !
7/14 is Bob even on today ?
Or is he gone for good ?
