Thank you to Everyone for the Cute Pings and Posts.

I’m planning to bring my country fried chicken....you can’t buy it like what you fry yourself, even though its a big job and worth it. I will have two skillets going! Sounds like a wonderful picnic especially those wonderful baked beans....YUM!! And potato salad is one of my favorites. My mouth is watering! I will also bring some wonderful iced tea!
I think we will have plenty of food, don’t you all?
I received good news at my eye checkup last monthmy faraway vision has improved. Well, I thought it was good news until a friend informed me: Faraway vision can improve as we age; close-up vision may diminish.
The report made me think of another kind of improved faraway vision that I have observed in some Christians. Those who have known the Lord for a long time or who have gone through great trials seem to have a better heavenly vision than the rest of us. Their eternal eyesight has gotten better and their close-up earthly vision is diminishing.
Because the apostle Paul had that type of eternal vision, he encouraged the church in Corinth: Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory . . . . The things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Cor. 4:17-18).
For now we struggle with our eyesight. Theres a tension between enjoying all that God has given us in this life, yet still believing what theologian Jonathan Edwards said about our future: To go to heaven, fully to enjoy God, is infinitely better than the most pleasant accommodations here. Seeing Him will bring perfect vision.
Read: 2 Corinthians 4:165:8
Kitty Mittens, if I had seen your cinnamon rolls last night, I would have eaten most of them BEFORE bed! (Then there wouldn’t have been any for our picnic today! They look SOooooooooooo good!)
We now have:
Hot dogs on the grill
Potato Salad
Meg’s baked beans
Amy’s fruit salad
Teenie’s grilled corn on the cob
and CINNAMON ROLLS FOR ALL!
Yum! I’ll be there! :) (I wish!)
Are you having company on this 4th of July?
Hot dogs sizzling on the grill
Grandma's potato salad
Amy's wonderful fresh fruit salad
Meg's steaming pot of baked beans
Teenie's grilled corn on the cob - buttered while hot
A HUGE platter of JC's fried chicken
and pitchers full of iced tea for all,
AND, cinnamon rolls to DIE for, from Kitty Mittens
Luv, if you come to our picnic, what would you bring? (I’ve heard they make some WONDERFUL chip dip in TX!) LOL!
I’m just settling in today, from a trip to CA last week! No company or celebrating - that is, until I get to our FR-Picnic!
Yes, I am home, Amy! It was wonderful to see all my granddaughters and my kid’s and their spouses together! (It’s been a year!)
I love my Shanah, and I sometimes call her “Popcorn”, because she doesn’t stop - from the time she wakes up, until her nap time - and then it’s wake up and start poppin’ again! LOL!
I posted a picture of her to Luv a couple weeks ago - I’ll see if I can find it! She looks so different now, though, because she was groomed yesterday, and her fur is much shorter. (It enables her to run faster, and ‘pop’ higher! LOL!)

Shanah will keep you on your toes as you try to contain the Popcorn! LOL! She’s a cutie!
I am sooooooooo happy this is just virtual calories. I’d be in ‘heap big trouble’! lol
I have to go to the store for a few things and I’ve been reading about all this delicious food and I’m so hungry!! I wish all this food wasn’t make believe. At least we can have a little fun along the way!
We’re not doing anything special for the 4th and I may get a couple of t.v. dinners. There are several that I like and I sure don’t plan on cooking a bunch of stuff just for me. Easy is what I’m looking for today. I like that Stouffer’s mac and cheese pretty good.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY DEAR FRIENDS!
At least I would like to wish all of you a day of rest or whatever for the 4th of July!
YUMMY, Luv! Chips, salsa, guacamole, queso, and the ACCOMPANIMENT, for those thirsting for a Margarita is a MUST HAVE! LOL!
So - we are near the final stage of our pot luck picnic at Amy’s:
Hot dogs on the grill,
Potato salad,
Baked Beans from Meg
Fruit salad from Amy
Corn on the cob from Teenie
Fried chicken from JC
Iced tea from JC
Cinnamon rolls from Kitty Mittens
and now (drum roll, please).......
Chips, dips and margaritas from Luv!
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY, EVERYONE!!!
Yummy - Stouffer’s mac and cheese is the BEST!
I don’t cook much any more, either. I love PF Chang’s meals, and Marie Callendar’s meals - they are always good.
But, today, I’m going to make all our picnic food 3-D - and scarf it down! :)
