The Festival moved to Agape Farm in 1984. (The year of the blackout - 1983 - was the last year at Muddy Run.) It was obvious that the festival had outgrown that facility, and there were 'only' 28000 or so on the closing night...
Agape Farm allowed the Festival to expand and by the mid 80's we were seeing 50,000 easily. By the end of the first decade of the 2000's we were over 100000, and the Creation Festival attained the status of 'Temporary City' under PA law. We noticed one year that we were seeing a substantial increase in police presence, and (since it was in the decade after 9/11) we wondered if threats had been made. after all, what more could some wigged out jihadi want than 100,000 Christians all in a big field at once if he wanted to earn his 72 sturgeons... I inquired at the office and was informed that they had over 80,000 registered campers (that did not include daily attendees - which cause the closing night crowd to swell to that bigger attendance number (120,000 one year) and since the facility had streets, water system, sanitation, and power systems, that made the festival a temp city...
Now the Festival 'borrows' field space from neighboring farms for campsites, they run shuttle buses out to the fringes, and.. we'll be there again this year ;-)
Of course, since we registered our group last year for this year, and since they assign the campsites in the order that the group registered, and we were number 12, we will be right behind the main stage...
