Getting that stuff down is worse than passing it. Once you get it all down, all you need is a good book and a few hours to go with the flow.

Good luck with your test. I had mine done last year a year earlier than I was due and they found cancer. The good news is that although I needed some major surgery, it looks like they got to it in time.

Because of colon cancer history in my family, I am on the five-year plan. A week after my 45th birthday I had my second one. The prep is the worst part, I slept on the coach near the guest bathroom. The last 8 oz. of the MiraLax and Gatorade solution almost didnt get down. The procedure itself is nothing. A stick of the needle, a cold sensation in your hand and arm and lights out! You wake up, you go to sleep at home for the rest of the day and then the next day you are back to normal.

I had the Doc write a note to my wife confirming that head did NOT find my head up there.

Did they let you look at the screen? If you then then you are one of a smaller group that can say you looked up your ‘rear end’.

All the best with the test. Good on you for getting it. I lost a great friend at 49 who was diagnosed at 47—and we all lost Tony Snow around the same time. I’ve just had my second test-after the first I had some polyps and they put me on 3 year follow up-this time no issues so the next is in 5 years. As many here have indicated a good sense of humor helps. Git er done and live long and prosper!

Avoid physical activity, until it’s done. Relax as much as possible. Assuming you can drink water, drink plenty. Avoid dehydration. Be prepared to eat something as soon as possible, after it’s done.

Ask for a copy of the DVD containing the video of the cleanest colon one could imagine. Then show the DVD regularly at your football parties when everyone is about to chomp down on the chicken wings, chips and dip.

First time I had one had to combine with an enema. Then we got to the hospital and they’d messed up the appointment. Had to redo the whole process a couple of weeks later.

I was on morphine IV when I was hospitalized for a kidney infection. It did absolutely nothing for the migraine headache I had and lowered my BP to around 90/40. Not really what we wanted to happen.

No wonder you’ve been feeling contrite!
Nah, piece of cake...nice to be cleaned out once in a while...
Great, life-saving procedure well worth going through.

They don’t really sedate you. They give you date rape medicine to make you forget.

I remembered everything from my last procedure. It was worse than when I got mugged and beaten to a pulp.

I’ve had two colonoscopies. Both times I woke up still half asleep from the anesthesia. It felt like absolutely no time passed from the time I went out to the time I woke up. And for some reason, while in the recovery room I had the crazy vibe that the nurse and I might get it on. Very, very strange, but kind of cool.

Think of the drink as flavored milk, and you might be able to choke it down a little easier. ;o)

Having had four of ‘em, I’d say drinking that crap (no pun) is the worst part. Everything else is pretty easy.

Chill the drink at least 24 hours before drinking any. Then add a little Crystal lite to it and mix well. Use a straw to drink it and keep some good reading material in the bathroom. You do not want to get too far away from the loo.
This advic e may be too late now but keep it in mind for the future.
