Recent Border Patrol data suggest that the traffic flow of illegal alien across our Southern border may be starting to shift away from Arizona and towards Texas. Maricopa County's Sheriff may be a big reason illegal aliens are increasingly avoiding the Grand Canyon State.
Last week Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his deputies smashed a big human smuggling ring that brought thousands of illegal aliens in and through Arizona over the past 4 years - but won't anymore. Arpaio leads the 3rd largest Sheriff's Department in the United States, and - in stark contrast to the Sheriffs in the other top 10 departments - Sheriff Joe is relentless in his enforcement of laws on the books against illegal aliens.
Yesterday was no exception, as Arpaio's deputies conducted a simultaneous Workplace ID Theft Operation at three locations of the restaurant chain America’s Taco Shop. A total of 11 arrests were made, including four individuals who are being booked on felony charges related to identity theft and forgery into the 4th Ave Jail.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Criminal Employment Squad had been investigating America’s Taco Shop for more than a year, identifying 16 individuals as using false or stolen identities and social security numbers.
This was the sheriff’s 72nd workplace identity theft operation. In the previous such operations, 100% of all suspects found to be committing identity theft to gain employment were illegal aliens. Sheriff Joe's office has investigated, arrested on the streets and in the jails over 79,000 illegal aliens.
“Illegal aliens are stealing identities of U.S. citizens to gain employment which escalates our unemployment problems. I don’t believe we should tolerate this. Furthermore, I will continue to enforce all federal and state illegal immigration laws in the business sector through human smuggling and crime suppression operations, despite activists and the federal government who may not like it,” said the Sheriff.There is not yet indication whether some of the illegal aliens were using the social security numbers of dead persons, as has happened many times in the past, including ones of murder victims.
Arpaio said that one of the benefits of these employer sanctions/identity theft operations is that they open up job opportunities for legal citizens.

Does anyone know if they contact the people whose identities were used when they bust someone using someone’s social security number or other documents? I wonder if people could file civil charges against the users of their information, and/or civil charges against whomever provided the stolen information alongside of the criminal charges against them?

Interesting comment, but...be advised that many of the 2,228 released so far have been high-risk offenders.
I kmow this and you know this but DHS does not know this thus high risk offenders benefit from Obama not getting what he wants.Remember Obama clearly stated we only released a few hundred low risk offenders and look at who was released and look at how hundreds released turned out to be thousands released as low risk offenders.. Serious offenders reduced to low risk offenders.

Joe Arpaio is one of the few Real Americans left....yet takes so much crap from liberals and GOP....you even have Michelle Malkin attacking Arpaio for his work on Obama Eligibility. And, other GOP attack Arpaio for his enforcement of Illegal Alien laws.

At the recent Senate hearing on vote-crazed Dem's "immigration reform," Mr. Crane was forced to testify alongside an illegal immigrant vote-crazed Senate Democrats called in to testify.
Under legacy-obsessed Obama's suck-up, illegal aliens are a low priority for deportation (b/c they each cast several votes for vote-crazed Democrats---using multiple identities).
Good point in regard to civil suits against the employers... Maybe class action suits against the larger corporations for failing to exert due diligence and denying the rights of legal citizens - akin to employment discrimination in some way? I’m just throwing out ideas in regard to ways we, as citizens, can perhaps take further action to buttress LE’s efforts?

Absolutely agreed. Someone used my husband’s SS# to get a phone about 10 years ago. When we discovered it through a bill we received, neither the phone company could give us information on who was using it, and they wouldn’t disconnect the phone, either. I called the social security administration and they said they couldn’t tell us anything — even if taxes had been filed under his number! That made absolutely no sense to me at all. I guess as long as they don’t get “caught” by issuing bills to the wrong people, the SSA, nor the IRS, nor even utilities companies care less if someone has your info.
My boss’s daughter found out at 18 that she had been filing taxes for 13 years and was the proud parent of a 9 and 11 year old. An IRS wanted to prosecute HER for false filing in another state!
