Gluten intolerance has gotten to be a fad...It’s an “attention” getter....like bad behavior. Same thin with lactose...
My brother has from 45-50 food, pollen etc. allergies. I’m working on “The Plan” by Lyn-Genet Recitas & lost 5 lbs in 4 days. Finding out what I’m reactive to so I can mostly avoid those items. Already knew ahead of time that I cannot have milk & problems with ice cream. I think if a person finds out what foods, drinks to avoid without going on some stupid diet it will work a lot better for a person. I feel sorry for her kids having to deal with their wacko parents food plan.
Almost all mammals shut down the gene for the enzyme that digests lactose (lactase) after infancy. Most Northern Europeans and some African populations have mutations in that control region and express lactase throughout life. It is a very popular mutation - but the default setting (and the majority of human beings on the planet) are NOT lactose tolerant as adults.
Tell that to my coworker who is truly on a fast path to death.
I eat lots of carbs, but gluten causes chronic infection in my lymphatic system.
Not a single doctor was able to diagnose the condition.
I had to figure it out by trial and error.
I’ve been thinking I was lactose intolerant. I’ve been eliminating out of my diet to see if I got better. I eliminated dairy (including lattes) or took lactaid and I got better.
I decided to try a latte using almond milk. I immediately got sick. It looks like the coffee was actually the culprit.
Been feeling much better since just taking out the coffee.
Believe you me, I wish I didn't have this problem - and I sure as heck don't do it as an "attention getter" - far from it. (and side note - my sister is allergic to eggs - found that out in the last six months)
I also don't like paying almost double for my starches, or additional things to help with milk products.
Be thrilled you're in perfect gastrointestinal health.
Exactly. Gluten intolerance is a fad disease that rarely exists in real people. There is a reason why bread has been called the staff of life, and milk called nature’s perfect food.
My mother is lactose intolerant. Thankfully the lactose-free milk and ice cream taste really good.
Lactaid is a good brand.
