Speaking of manipulative, Amber sings Mariah Carey's "Without You". Accompanied by lots of swirling fog and string instuments. A little sour. Like she's not getting enough air in her lungs. Now a pack of background singers appears out of the fog to make this seem better than it really is.
Keith: We gotta Amber alert going on! I don't know why I said that. I wish I hadn't. Beautiful song choice. Love how you let those notes on the end open up and bloom.
Minaj: (says she can only compare it with Mariah's version, and that this didn't measure up) No feeling. You seem like not my normal Amber. Maybe you were scared. Maybe because you started low. Restricted. Didn't feel that it was good.
(mild booing from the audience)
Randy: Didn't think it was perfect. But I don't know who could sing this in front of this legend. Mariah was younger than you when she recorded it. You did a damn good job. Vote for Amber!
Mariah: Yes, yes, yes--vote for Amber! I love to hear you sing in that upper register. (thought that song was too low for her) Love a lot of the choices you made.
Lord have mercy, I agree with the Ho! <:^0
You mean you were cheering...
Oh, no, lets go HO????
Hi, Shelayne! :)
Interesting . Googled the song and Harry Nillson wrote it, and is the original performer.
Listening to the panel I was under the impression it was all Mariah’s doing.
I agree. He should have been doing that all along.
Ok....I am agreeing with Miss It. Terrifying.
Good one
Ok, ok...extra points. But, I don’t like restrictor plates! lol
And I dont like Minaj, so it is a WIN WIN :-)
Candace has more runs in this tune, than in the Olympic Track and Field trials!
ROFL!!
Randy just earned the mute button.
"She [Mariah] graced me with the glitter last week. I feel that she gets me."
Candice sings Mariah & Whitney Houston's "I Believe In Miracles".
The swirling fog and string instruments return. Will there be background singers too? Yep. All of that is unnessecary. Candice pulls this song off very well on her own.
Minaj: That is how you do Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston song. (remembering the song from her youth) I believe I believed there was nothing I can't do. You tore that song up. But there's a bigger message here. (She mentions everything from women to bombing victims in Boston) We all need to hear that right now!
Randy: Again? This is crazy! That's the best vocal of the night. You have one of the best voices in the known world. (gives her props for, again, performing a Mariah song in front of Mariah)
Mariah: Personally I think you can sing anything. (trying not to cry) Rest in peace, the great Whitney Houston.
Keith: Love your voice because it stops me in my tracks. Jimmy Iovine said you had to pull out all the stops. You pulled them out and annhialated them.
I like Janelle - she’ll make it in C&W with our without winning AI.
Why did she pick that song?? Dolly has tons of great songs...
Her diva song is Dolly Parton's "Dumb Blonde". Never heard this song before. It's upbeat. "This dumb blonde ain't nobody's fool!"
Randy: Love Dolly Parton. Thought this was a fun song for you. (wasn't challenging vocally) More peforming than singing.
Mariah: It was pow. Thought you were connected to this song. I thought it was cute, I really did. Firey Janelle thing. (but cautions) We want to make sure America can hear everything you can do.
Keith: Don't know if I'd place "Dumb Blonde" high on the Dolly Parton playlist. Wasn't the best song for you to shine (but he liked it)
Minaj: I want to be very careful of how I say everything to the top five because you are all super human. You're in danger of going home tomorrow night. There may be some more dynamic girls here but that has nothing to do with how far you will go in the real world.
Yeah, I liked her first song a lot more.
Agreed! She should have done Two Doors Down or Here You Come Again...Probably good that she didn’t choose Jolene or I Will Always Love You...those are the ones that everyone does.
They appear to be setting Janelle up for anexit.
Excellent in all regards by Kree
We’re having bad storms here in my neck of the woods. Fox broadcast was out for Amber, Candice 2, and Janelle 2. Came back just in time for Kree 2.
