Amber Holcomb

Speaking of manipulative, Amber sings Mariah Carey's "Without You". Accompanied by lots of swirling fog and string instuments. A little sour. Like she's not getting enough air in her lungs. Now a pack of background singers appears out of the fog to make this seem better than it really is.

Keith: We gotta Amber alert going on! I don't know why I said that. I wish I hadn't. Beautiful song choice. Love how you let those notes on the end open up and bloom.

Minaj: (says she can only compare it with Mariah's version, and that this didn't measure up) No feeling. You seem like not my normal Amber. Maybe you were scared. Maybe because you started low. Restricted. Didn't feel that it was good.

(mild booing from the audience)

Randy: Didn't think it was perfect. But I don't know who could sing this in front of this legend. Mariah was younger than you when she recorded it. You did a damn good job. Vote for Amber!

Mariah: Yes, yes, yes--vote for Amber! I love to hear you sing in that upper register. (thought that song was too low for her) Love a lot of the choices you made.

Interesting . Googled the song and Harry Nillson wrote it, and is the original performer.

Listening to the panel I was under the impression it was all Mariah’s doing.
