Will Mary and Matthew get married? What will happen to Mr. Bates? Will Cora's mother and Violet hit if off?

Well, if they dont bring back Lady Sybil I will be sorely disappointed. Killing her off was a headscratcher. Maybe it was a dream...

I’m a big fan of the series but am disappointed with the addition of Shirley MacLean to the cast. I hope she doesn’t end up chewing up the scenery.

Maggie Smith is wonderful !!
Such a classic, skilled actress playing it with just the right amount of humour.

The attitudes of the characters are too contemporary — servants treated with consideration, sitting around the dining table gabbing instead of scrubbing floors or managing the fireplace 17 hours a day, jetting off to the village for errands, marrying for love and not social position etc. The original Upstairs Downstairs was soooo much more realistic.

My wife has been bouncing off the walls all day because she is so excited.
I promised I would give the show a try at least. Looks pretty decent.

Will Mary and Matthew get married I read somewhere that Matthew gets killed off in a car accident... I sure HOPE not! At least not, until Mary get pregnant.

I guess you missed the spoiler from GB, where season starting here ended Christmas Eve or something. I don’t mind knowing. I love anything in old costumes, 1800-1900s.

Don't forget, gentle readers, that our favorite show is on tonight, Sunday, Jan. 13. Check your local listings for time...although I know the time is emblazoned in your collective heads.
I have a couple pithy comments on the Shirley MacLaine character, but I want to watch one more episode first.
Did you hear Rush say last week that he watches Downton Abbey?....AND THAT HE'S WATCHED EVERY SINGLE EPISODE FROM THE BEGINNING!
Atta boy, Maha Rushie, you da bloke.

Our favorite English peeples are on the move tonight.....so set out the teapot, the crocheted teapot cozy, the bone china cups and the little raspberry tarts for late evening sweets.....and lots of yummy TV viewing.
Cheerio !

Y'all might find this interesting, showed up in the Asheville paper last week or so. Can't make it a live link due to the Gannet/Asheville media freaks:
Asheville's Biltmore House is the real-life Downton Abbey

Heads up, m'lords and m'ladies.....final night tonight, alas and alack.
I'm going to have a little essay on Shirley McClain and her appearance on Downton Abbey on this thread sometime this coming week. A week's bout in the hospital with pneumonia has clipped my wings a little. But I''m carrying on in the best British stiff-upper-lip tradition, LOL.
Also, don't forget to bookmark this thread if you haven't as yet because I'm sure there'll be scads of critiques coming up on tonight's final episode.
Enjoy your evening, my dear friends.
