The coming of the white man was a net benefit to the white man and the indian living in North America.
P.S. Everyone born here is a native American. No one group has the right to arrogate such a title.
Don't worry, we are all gonna end up on the US Reservation where we will need permission to do anything, healthcare, taxes, and rights will be gone. Joy.
Looks like a map of GOP cave-ins.
It sucks to be a Neolithic people facing the forces of the Enlightenment. Europeans acquired the lands of North America through the accepted real estate transfer process used by Indians; conquest.

When a culture without a wheel meets a culture with a wheel, guess who gets rolled over. — Darwin Rules
One word:
Rifle
Nuff said.
We get it: white people are inherently evil and earth would still be the Garden of Eden if they weren’t around.
Whew, does this not give any background at all. Background essential to knowing what happened.
To start with, when the British colonies were established on the coasts, westward expansion was effectively blocked by the northern and southern tribes, except that in pre-history, they had such an enormous and bitter war, that they had agreed that most of the area of what is now Kentucky was a “neutral zone”, prohibited to both sides.
So when new immigrants, particularly tough Scots-borderers arrived, they were encouraged to settle in Kentucky, making an effective wedge between the northern and southern tribes. Once established, neither Indian confederation could drive them out. So a westward expansion corridor was created.
The next big problem came with the Louisiana Purchase, which included vast areas claimed by the Plains Indians. But these claims were problematic, as there were far too few Plains Indians to control such an area except intermittently. Settlers could easily move in and set up defenses before their presence was detected.
Then came Andrew Jackson, who though he had fought side by side with Indians against the French, had no problem in ordering a massive “ethnic cleansing” of the southern tribes, pushing them West across the Mississippi. The infamous “Trail of Tears”.
The next phase of westward expansion was conducted to a great extent with considerable tact and diplomacy by the US military, whenever they could, who generally rejected the anti-Indian hatred devolved from Washington.
But at the same time, the US military was well aware that it faced several very large and reasonably capable armies of the western tribes, most of whom were more than willing to go toe-to-toe with them in a fight.
Much of this came to a head with a withdrawal of many US Army forces because of the Civil War. But after the war was over, the battle hardened Army went West with resolve and broke the resistance of the western tribes during the Indian Wars. The last skirmishes ended just before the turn of the 20th Century.
It just took one hundred and eleven years for the ignorant freedom loving Indians to lose America to the Europeans.
It has actually taken less than that for the ignorant freedom loving whites to lose it to the socialists.
The only consolation in the whole thing is that there has to be a purpose behind it that is ordained by God.
I often offer this speculation in regards to the Native Americans: what do you think would have happened if it were Genghis Khan or Tamerlane who had come here instead of Columbus?
“All the problems we face in the United States today can be traced to an unenlightened immigration policy on the part of the American Indian.”- Pat Paulsen
Sure America existed before Columbus discovered it for Europe.
Genetics also existed before Gregor Mendel discovered its rules. DNA existed before Watson, Crick and Franklin discovered the structure of DNA. Gravity bent light before Einstein discovered the principle and before the principle was observed and measured.
I read a biography of Lewis and Clark awhile back (?Undaunted Courage?). In it there was a basic culture clash between white guys who thought that manhood meant growing up to be prosperous, and well-respected for leadership in the community, and native guys who thought that manhood meant being a warrior. The whole idea of having peace with other tribes, including the white one, seemed ludicrous to young tribesmen, because it would basically mean that they would never have a chance to be real men. Peace was for wusses. If those were the underlying assumptions of the two groups of men, I can see why peace and understanding didn’t happen.
This graphic insults Latinos!
It does not show the Spanish settlements in New Mexico and California, implying these areas were inhabited only by Indians as late as 1890, which is just silly.
Also does not show most of the Indian reservations in NM, especially along the Rio Grande.
The same thing happened to my eastern European ancestors, the Slavs, when the Romans invaded. The Romans destroyed a lot of things and made a lot of people slaves. But they also replaced old barbaric societies with modernity. At some point in history every society that is now modern was once primitive. The same applies for American Indians.
I've read more than a few articles from certain historians who bemoan the coming of the white man and the death of the Indian "civilization." The question these people must ask themselves is: would it have been better for the Indians to remain in a primitive state while the rest of the world's people progressed into a modern system? Sure, things could have been handled better, but if you're an Indian, do you wish you were still living a hunter-gatherer lifestyle?
1. Someone forget about all of those living east of the Appalachians. They either died from European diseases or were pushed west by the “settlers” they had helped establish.
2. The “nomads” being pushed west started the house of cards tumbling.
3. Yes, the People were different from the Europeans, but still many gave thanks for their blessings, while European greed and self righteousness used their god(s) (many different “Christian” and non-Christian churches) to serve their cause.
4. We are still being run over by those who think their way is better, and that we should follow blindly.
5. I ain’t sure of my ancestry, but in my heart I am a red man.
