It's struck me that JimRob's absolute RomneyZot has created a situation rarely seen in the world, especially on a mass scale: a koan.
A koan is a technique used in Zen Buddhism to stop the endless thoughts of the mind, and thereby enable a genuine spiritual breakthrough when the ego finally shuts the hell up. Traditionally, this is done by giving the acolyte an impossible question, and demanding an answer.
While somewhat inverse tactically, JimRob has created a similiar situation on Free Republic. Freepers are already faced with an impossible situation politically, and JimRob has (at least on FR) removed the easiest answer.
Real koans are not merely trick questions, as most people think (you can even buy books with "answers" to traditional Japanese koan questions, so clueless is what passes for understanding these days). Rather, koans are a method by which a person is forced to examine their most fundamental assumptions, in a desperate attempt to resolve the pressure of the paradox. As result, a more profound understanding is eventually reached that sheds light on what usually is realized to be a self-created cycle of delusion. In politics however, cycles of misery are exactly what the Left was created to maintain, precisely to deny the clarity that would lead to freedom.
So JimRob's making Freepers sweat it out. This is a remarkable thing - and rare. And I predict it will lead to a whole new level of clarity about political dynamics here, because that's what happens when you stand your ground and say: "Enough." You drop the self-indulgence, because you simply can't afford it anymore. And isn't that a perfect paradigm for what needs to happen in America?
Which brings me to my trademark mixed metaphor. Once upon a time, two frogs fell into a cup of milk. They could paddle around, but couldn't reach the rim. As time went on, they grew exhausted, and one of the frogs decided the whole effort was pointless, and despite the entreaties of his friend, he gave up, and drowned. But the other frog kept going, determined never to quit, despite how bad things looked. To that frog, it was the principle of the thing, even if he drowned too. So he paddled on... and just when he was about over, to his amazement, he felt something under his foot. It was a clot of cream he had churned through his incessant paddling. And he was able to brace upon it, and hop out.
So here's another koan: after going though that experience, who did the frog vote for?
Saying a prayer for your healing.
Good thing it wasn’t skim milk.
Or one of them boost themselves out with the others’ help, then go get a rope?
The answer ~ the CORRECT ANSWER ~ is for the less Conservative candidates to drop out of the race.
Their failure to do so should be held against them in future political endeavors.
We should also punish those who supported less Conservative candidates ~ brutally so ~
That’s just what I was thinking.
“Voting for the lesser of two evils means you’re still voting for evil. ... I’m voting for Newt. Piss on these lesser of two evils, I’m choosing a good man.”
But you are still voting for the ‘lesser of two evils’ aren’t you? There is no such thing as a perfect man or perfect candidate and all candidates contain at least some evil. Any vote must therefore be a vote for the ‘lesser of two evils’. Why do you even vote?
That's missing the koan completely. It's like telling someone you're the most humble person in the room. A conservative does not sacrifice their principles. Compromising with evil because it increases your chances of winning automatically disqualifies your choice as conservative.
Picky, picky!!!
It would have been a better investment on Frog#1's part to attempt to drown Frog #2 ~ then use his dead bloated body as a staging ground for launching himself into the Big Time!
Frog #2s "Conservatism" will never improve if he wins the battle of the teacup so easily with his old beliefs intact!
I see. So murder is OK as long as it advances conservatism?
Nothing wrong with capital punishment ~ providing it's legal and all, and I'm sure the Frog Book of Jurisprudence is sufficient to provide a ruling that drowning Frog #2 was well within the framework of the Frog Dynasty Founding Fathers!
There is not independent party candidate that is viable; the DNC and GOP appoint their representative for the National Election. We need to get behind the local level politics and work to change who trickles upward Nationally. At this point in time, the GOP has given us another McCain type candidate who does not garner passionate support from true conservatives, so now we settel for relection.... As distasteful as it may be, at least we have a better (read better chance) chance of keeping our Country resembling something we recognize with the person banned from support on FR than with re-electing the incumbent. After 13 or so years at FR, I never thought I would see the day that zotting would define conservatives, or pragmatic Tea Party folks who given two choices for president would choose the GOP candidate. We really need to quit whinning and start at grass roots level like the guy we hate here (Romeny)who started 20-years ago building for this election. Obama will destroy any hopes we at FR have for sure.
Just don't be pimping the damned thing here.

Used this back alley voodoo variant as our medic cobbled up for me when I had a deep puncture wound that was slow to heal..... He said it was based on the old Roman medicos use of honey an grease.
I have used it many times since for cuts or scrapes that got infected.
Iodine an table sugar ....
Is FR’s message, “Don’t vote for the Republican nominee?”
