Robert George and Robert Godes of Brillouin Energy — Announce Successful Cold Fusion Reactor
E-Cat World ^ | March 29, 2012 | Frank Acland

Posted on 03/30/2012 5:10:35 AM PDT by Wonder Warthog

James Martinez of Cash Flow Radio has conducted an interview with Brillouin Energy‘s Chief Executive Officer Robert George and President and Chief Technical Officer Robert E. Godes.

The reason they said they are ready to conduct an interview at this point (and not earlier) is because they have been able to develop a control system that allows a reaction to start and stop, and run in a steady state mode. They said that next month they will be working with Mike McKubre of SRI International to run a reactor at a higher temperature.

Godes states that the Brillouin’s reaction starts with an endothermic reaction (reaction that absorbs heat) and ends with a more powerful exothermic reaction (reaction releases heat). Brillouin is working on two systems, the first one provides heat at 140 degrees C, (called the “wet boiler”) the second one reaches 400 – 450 degrees C. George says that they have applied for patents, but have been told by a patent examiner at the US Patent Office that the office is still not permitted to grant patents in the cold fusion field.

Robert George said that financing has been difficult to obtain, and they are working towards securing a two million dollar investment. Their business plan is not to manufacture products, but to license technology to third party producers. George says that Brillouin has been receiving visits from a number of entities, including the Naval Research Lab and “major corporations.”

Godes expresses doubts about whether both Andrea Rossi and Defkalion actually have technology that is ready for the marketplace, but says he would like to see them succeed in order to bring recognition and acceptance to the field of cold fusion.

Kev....late ping...would you do the “list thing”?? Found and posted this just before leaving for work (at which I just arrived), so I’m about to “submerge” again ‘til “quittin’ time”.

“Announce successful pill that turns water into motor fuel.”

I actually saw a fictional story on exactly that on TV about 45 years ago. I have NO idea what the show was...Amazing Stories or something. Wasn’t Twilight Zone, it was supposed to be based on a true story. All their episodes were, I think. (Sorry to be so vague. It wasn’t a show I watch regularly.)

All I really remember is that a guy — maybe 1920s or ‘30s era — runs out of gas. He asks a man if he can use his water hose, fills his gas tank with water, throws in a little pill or three, and drives off. The good Samaritan stands there scratching his head as the other fellow drives away.

I think the only reason I remember it at all is because it was supposedly based on a true story.

I've been waiting for a good number of decades for someone to achieve controlled hot fusion, and I have no doubt that wait will extend into the distant future.

I think you forgot your "(/s)"

I've seen it done too. The secret is a small hidden gas tank that the driver switches to and cuts the water tank and pill out of the system.

Well, that’s not what I was going for. I was just talking about a TV show.

I was going to make that announcement today, but was concerned that the EPA would over-regulate it. OTOH, if I make the announcment at 4PM on a Friday, like the (In)Justice Department did with all of their document dumps regarding Fast & Furious, it could all fly under the radar.

Double touche before lunch! I win!

Look up the latest info on the National Ignition facility... they have the energy available and the targets and are getting ready for fusion. They are also working on making it available to the public.... and it has only been 40 years since original proof of concept

“The lizard people use these cold fusion reactors for all their energy needs.”

Yes, but they stole the technology from the mole men.

Jethro did that on the Beverly Hillbilly’s but he had the selector labeled backwards so when he went to gas from water, it stalled. It was pretty funny.

Is this the same Mike McKubre that Krivit seems to have a beef with over deleted and fudged data? It shouldn’t matter as it appears they just want him to see if he can get it to run at a higher temperature.

From the article it says the second system is operating around 400-450 Celsius. Is that enough to drive a steam turbine?

Is this a fusor type reactor? I’ll look at the data this evening.

Four decades ago. Current status is a peta Watt laser impacting targets successfully. Next step is ignition

Practical power plant?? No. And a typical change of subject whenever I ask one of those touting "hot fusion" WHY cold fusion "just can't happen" despite reams of data saying that it does. WHERE are the CF experiments flawed??

But the response is always some variation on "mumble, mumble....Coulomb Barrier.....mumble, mumble".

Here's a clue for all you pseudo-scientists.....EXPERIMENT determines the validity of THEORY.....NOT the reverse.

Yes. I've read Krivit's critique, and his accusations just don't wash.

"From the article it says the second system is operating around 400-450 Celsius. Is that enough to drive a steam turbine?"

At risk of arousing the knee-jerk anti-Rossi brigage....yes....there are variations of turbines that can be run on lower temperature steam..Rossi mentions that Siemens has such technology, and it is what he plans to use to generate electricity from his E-cats.

The turbine is real, even if the E-cat might not be.

"Is this a fusor type reactor? I’ll look at the data this evening."

No. This is a gas-loaded solid substrate CF reactor similar to Rossi's E-Cat, Miley's zirconium oxide paladium (or nickel) system, and several others.

and yet they are indeed designing and planning for practical power plants using this technique. You have not done as much homework as you would like to think

So is Rossi. So are the "magnetic fusion" guys. I suspect Rossi will deliver a pracital power plant before the NIF does. I'm quite familiar with the NIF. I've done consulting work for (and at) LLNL (though not on anything fusion-related).

And again...you're changing the subject. This thread is about LANR/CF, not the NIF. Since you're so convinced that LANR is "not real", and you've "read every paper on the subject", surely you can describe your scientific objections to the concept.

I still haven't read the .pdf but will get to it after I do some wrenching.

At risk of arousing the knee-jerk anti-Rossi brigage....yes....there are variations of turbines that can be run on lower temperature steam..Rossi mentions that Siemens has such technology, and it is what he plans to use to generate electricity from his E-cats.

We might as well leave Rossi out of the picture for now but I thought 400o to 450oC was the normal range for a steam turbine? If not, what is the lowest typical operating range for a steam turbine power plant?

I don't know if I'm reading this correctly. You said it's similar to zirconium oxide -palladium or that is what they use? So, is it an electrolytic cell like P&F? If so, what is the availability of this element, zirconium oxide?

Looking at a periodic table, zirconium 40) palladium (46) is farther to the right of Iron than Nickel(28) and copper (29)are. My understanding is that in what is thought of as conventional fusion, going to the right of Iron on the periodic table means it takes more energy to fuse these elements together where if the elements are to the left of Iron, fusing them gets you more energy out??

Is there a hole in conventional physics or can it explain these reactions? If not and these do work, it sounds like whoever gets the theory right might be the man of the hour so to speak.

Since you will not accept arguments involving fundamental understanding of fusion (thosed nasty things like the Gamow Window) there is very little that anyone can offer such a high class scientist as yourself.

I note that all the CF folks have been promising deliverables with dates attachede and yet have never done so.

We will see who delivers first.
