On Sundays Face the Nation on CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum explained that his view of the Trayvon Martin shooting differed significantly from the one held by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich was critical of President Barack Obamas reaction, but Santorum placed the blame on accused shooter George Zimmermans mental state.
Well, you know, obviously, Im not privy to whats going on in someones mind, Santorum said. Obviously, in my opinion, someone
has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this. This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality. Its a tragic, tragic case. And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I cant imagine what theyre suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one, and a very, very tragic one.

Yes, Santorum, anybody in their right mind would have to conclude that shooting someone who is trying to beat you to death has a very sick mind and a malicious motive indeed!
OMG! I had to watch the video to make sure Santorum actually utered these stupid statements. He did. This man is not fit to be president. No wonder the Pennsylvanians booted him out by a wide margin.
Our choice is Romney or this moron? Only Newt “gets it”.
The stupidity by Santorum here is frightening. How hard is it to say, “Let’s wait until all the facts are in and the investigation is complete”? Rick is not ready for prime time, I’m afraid.
Don’t make me reconsider my ABO position Rick.
This makes me reconsider my support for Santorum over Romney. The MSM plays Santorum like a fiddle. So glad I cast my vote for Newt.
He’s passing judgement before the facts. Not that some here haven’t, but this is huge. I always thought he was in bed with Romney. We’ve been set up?
TOAST
I used to think the guy had potential and under the guidance of a seasoned professional he would turn out ok.
Now? I just don’t think so.
.
Rick stepped in it there. Why not let all the facts come out and at least give the local officials a chance to do THEIR job.
I would put it more diplomatically. At times Santorum just accepts the left’s narrative regarding the issues of the day.
Oh My Gosh, what the heck was he thinking? This is beyond comprehension.
Seriously, was his brain abducted by aliens?
That has been a decade long problem with the Senator — commenting on issues that do not involve Federal issues. He has a tin ear for the overall music of the electorate for half the time.
Santorum is playing along with the CURRENT MEDIA TRUTH, just like he did while in the Senate.
Some ‘Brave Conservative!”
Mc-Santor-Cain is toast
He can kiss my vote in the primary goodbye. If by some miracle he does become the GOP candidate, my vote will be against BHO, not for this idiot.
Ricky, Ricky, Ricky.....more often than not, it pays just to keep your mouth shut....Did Jesse donate to your campaign??
This is exactly why race baiters continue to have so much influence.
Just damn, Ricky boy is indeed like Obama when it comes to speaking of such.
AMEN
“....but Santorum placed the blame on accused shooter George Zimmermans mental state.”
.
Santorum plays judge, jury and also claims to have medical qualifications.
Is he really a lawyer? The little respect I had for him has evaporated.
I think Santorum was trying to avoid the “I agree with Newt” scenario, and was attempting to show that he has opinions of his own.
Unfortunately, I don’t think he thought this one through. Of course, it won’t matter one whit to his voters.
