Teams that have discussed a trade for quarterback Tim Tebow, either internally or with the Denver Broncos, include the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
While one league source says the Dolphins are not likely to deal for Tebow, two sources told ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini on Tuesday night the Jets' interest in Tebow has intensified.

Years ago many runningbacks (they were halfbacks then) in the NFL had been single wing tailbacks in college. A position similar to what Tebow played at U of F. Guys like Kyle Rote and Frank Gifford entered the pros being able to run and pass. Gifford perfected the halfback option pass which was an important part of Lombardi’s power sweep, made famous by Hornung and the Pack. Your scenario of Tebow at the goal line reminds me of those times. I don’t know if Tebow has the vision of a Gifford, looking for holes to run or receivers to pass to, but an imaginative coach could take a chance on developing Tebow into the next Hornung or Gifford.
Sounds fine. I was just having fun busting your chops.
That’s what I thought. :)
Yeah, but Gifford got married to Kathy Lee. That shows what taking all those hits do to a man.
Yeah cause what the Jets really need is 2 QBs that like to throw to the ground. Didn’t they just give Sanchez an extension too?
Living in Indy, I’ve watched Manning carefully in the past few years, and have come to the conclusion he isn’t the “saintly” person he is sometimes made out to be. It was clear during his tenure in Indianapolis that he did not want a competent backup QB. The guys behind him, Sorgi & Painter, were never going to cut it in the NFL. You could say “with a guy like Peyton who needs a backup?” Well, the Colts could have used one last year. I think Manning is very bright and very careful about what he says and does in public, and cultivates his image well. How he plays things behind the scenes with his GM may be a different story.
Also, I watched how he handled his salary in the past two years. He signed a huge contract extension before last year, but he knew he was injured and kept the extent of his injury from the team. I think he knew there was a substantial likelihood he wasn’t going to play. Then came the lockout. Manning was one of the “troika” of QBs along with Brees and Brady, who drove the players side of the deal that ended the lockout. Manning made sure that there was a clause inserted that barred a team from restructuring a contract to change the terms during the current contract year. That year begins on March 8. Thus, he knew the Colts would have make the tough decision to keep him and eat $35 million, or cut him, all without the benefit of mini camps, the draft, or a thorough medical analysis.
Peyton in effect called Irsay’s bluff, but Irsay IMO made the right decision and let him go. I think Denver was nuts to sign him for that much money AND commit themselves to trading Tebow, the only competent backup they have. I don’t doubt that commitment by Denver was important in getting Manning to sign with them. Personally, I think he’s washed up, nor will he play well in an October blizzard in Denver. Also, rumor has it he’s trying to “put the band back together” by getting the Broncos to sign guys like Dallas Clark and Jeff Saturday. Sorry, but those guys are washed up, too.
I don’t want to seem overly critical of Manning; the NFL is a business and Manning made very shrewd business decisions in his own interest. He is a very bright guy. But let’s call it for what it is. He can spare me the crocodile tears from the press conference.
Tedow never said anything about himself in elevated “God” position. He did say many times God doesn’t care you wins a football game. TT only prayers were for the safety of the team and that he would Glorify God in his attitude.
Whatever team TT plays for that is what his prayer and attitude will be.
Now, Manning is one good hit from permanent paraplegic status.
Denver made a huge mistake, fueled by Elways loathing of TT.
Thanks, I didn’t realize Quinn moved on also.
Hmmm they could Sign Jeff George and have a fun Former Colts party!
Being a smart-ass is my defining characteristic...I can’t help myself. :) Also, there is no way for me to be objective, as I am extremely biased.
"...the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down..."
The Lord is directing his path. Just be faithful Tim.:)
The jets just signed Drew Stanton from detroit... maybe they trade straight up???? Imagine DREW learning from manning.....
Well understood, on both counts.
Brady Quinn left the Broncos last week, signing with KC, which means Adam Weber would be the backup to Peyton if Tim left. Weber (U/Minnesota) has never thrown a pass in the NFL. In fact, he’s never suited up for a game, spending the 2011 campaign on the “practice squad.”
So, strangely enough, getting Manning means the Broncos now have to go out and find a quarterback.......other than Peyton Manning.
Quinn is already gone. If they trade Tebow they will have to get 1, maybe 2 backups.
Manning is used to having backups who hardly ever play. Other than last year, of course.
Word on Twitter is that it’s official—Tebow to the Jets for a fourth-round draft pick.

Wow, a somewhat established first round pick for a 4th round pick....a steal? Is there more to this?
Are they going to make him a passing halfback?

So now Tebow will have the opportunity to steal some of the media spotlight from Eli Manning.
