I’m with you. I’m pretty sure WE’VE done an outstanding job guaranteeing Barack the Kenyan a second term. Who in their right mind would want to vote for any of the scumbags we’re putting up?

Romney's a RINO. Newt slept with Nancy, and a bunch of others I guess. Santorum has no support. Paul is wacko. Cain was too black, so he had to be destroyed I guess. Palin is a supposed idiot, or she doesn't want to run.

Case closed, Romney is the GOP only hope.

I don't need no stinkin' party, I just have to decide on a good write-in for POTUS if RINO Romney is the chosen one.

Please! Let’s get back to stressing whatever is good about our people, or not saying anything at all about them. Bickering and negativism just serve to increase Obama’s popularity. He DESERVES to be the target.

Sorry. Request denied. The process is called politics as usual. It’s a dirty business, but even the candidates play by these rules. Mitt, Newt, whoever.

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you mean by the phrase “our guys”. Are you conservative first or party-first?

Ever seen this ?

“Welcome to Free Republic, America’s exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!”

Let’s suppose this actually describes the most typical and ‘vocal’ denizens of this here site.

How is it you’re surprised that they are largely unimpressed or opposed to the so-called ‘candidates’ parading around trying to impersonate a potential President ?

NONE of those you enumerated above seem to have made the cut, yet, as credible or convincing Standard Bearers for who and what we are or aspire to be — at least for the overwhelming majority of us.

“Let’s get back to stressing whatever is good about our people, or not saying anything at all about them.”

To suggest it is somehow unwholesome, inappropriate or simply ‘bad form’ to criticize them is remarkably obtuse, at the very least.

WHY bother holding primaries or elections if you aren’t weighing the merits of the ‘candidates’ and discarding those that do not serve our needs or ends ? And how do you DO that without expressing what’s wrong with ‘em and why they don’t make the grade ?

Granted, it would certainly dampen the noise down, considerably, but it would ALSO reduce the ‘light’ level, too, doanchaknow ?

Who do you mean by "our"?

If you mean "us conservatives" then there is at least a reasonable case against each of those candidates even being a fellow conservative. In some conservative eyes there are no conservatives running for president this year.

If you mean "us Republicans" then you have only the GOP to blame. And not because they are supposedly cramming a RINO down our throats, but because they allowed anyone besides a single pre-picked candidate to run at all.

The GOP should have had enough control to decide who they wanted to represent them this election cycle and done whatever was necessary to keep every other potential candidate from running. The fact that they allowed a gaggle of candidates to run, some who turned out to be complete jokes, is their own fault.

We as Americans might like the fact that we get a choice, and that is great, but the GOP is a private organization. It has a reputation to defend. It is going to go up against a candidate that is unopposed in the primary. Why does it want so much money being flushed down the drain during a primary fight where all that is happening is the generation of free opposition research for Obama?

The GOP is now officially too big a tent. It wants to be all things to all the people who agree on only two things: let us keep our unregistered guns and keep our taxes low.

The GOP is a laughingstock. The current primary process does not help conservatives, because the only people who listen to the GOP are potential candidates similar to their chosen one. That is why Pawlenty got out. That is why Christie and Daniels never got in.

From now until the end of time (or the end of the GOP) there will be one RINO vs a bunch of conservatives who will split the conservative vote. The RINO will get the nod, but only after having to move so far right that he is no longer acceptable to independents.

We need a two-pronged attack:

1. Help to establish the Green Party as an official party by giving them over 5% of the presidential vote in the next cycle. This will split the liberal/socialist vote.

2. Help to establish a viable national conservative party. Work with the Republicans when they are sufficiently conservative, and pull our support when they drift too far left.

I know that there are people who don't like the multiparty systems they have in Europe and Israel, but the smaller parties do get concessions on issues important to them. For example, there wouldn't be as many Israeli settlements as there are if Israel were a two-party democracy IMHO.

It’s depressing. I’ve also become less and less interested in listening to my favorite radio pundits, and am beginning to slack quite a bit on my postings to FR.

One can only stand so much disappointment with how our side is conducting what should be an all-out assault against the enemies of liberty and freedom.

It’s as though we Tea Party, patriotic, Constitution upholding, liberty loving, God-fearing Americans have been zotted by the body politic.

I nearly want to wash my hands of the ‘system’, and prepare for Revolution II.

I think nearly all of us agree that the A-Team decided not to enter the race this election for some reason. And that both Newt and Romney, (both with flaws aplenty) were on none of our list of favorites in the spring of 2011 when there were so many other hopefuls. Cain and Perry offered a little excitement for a short time, but they were clearly not ready for prime time.

But we got what we got. Not much different really than at this time in 2008 when it was down to Romney, Huckabee or McCain. A trifecta of flaws.
The saving grace of 2008 was the introduction to the Party, one great lady, Sarah Palin. I have never seen a candidate able to unite a broken party so quickly like she did with her convention speech. Lets hope and pray there is another such choice by our nominee. A VEEP that will get us all excited again about November.

It’s the nature of Power. It is dirty and nasty, cruel and mean. There is no other way to get power in a world filled with evil. If you really want to get depressed-—read what happened in Machiavelli’s age.....things were really worse then and many of the people couldn’t even read and had no way to express themselves.

We do have an advantage===and with the internet it has mushroomed like the elites were afraid of-—secrets get out now.......but the elites will NEVER give up power without a nasty deadly fight. That’s politics.

You have to shut out all the white noise. Too much information today. Turn off the TV and don’t read any newspapers. Be very selective and read history and philosophy-—and you will realize that nothing has really changed. Some of the best ideas in history were thought up thousands of years ago.

The Nature of Man does not change....and Marx was very wrong. But there are those who want total control of the world and man.

Y’all are echoing how I feel today: depressed.
I am not encouraged or hopeful and the music from Jaws is playing in my head. The GOP-E is so stupid. They actually think Romnuts is going to be able to beat The Kenyan.

We are so much more informed here. That’s why it’s scary to read your like minded comments and hear your thoughts.
Those of you wise ones who say that we just need to be happy and live our lives in spite of the dire prospects for ‘12 are right.

I’m trying to plan a strategy though. Will I work on state and local efforts? Like you, I have tired of media pundits. And the talk show hosts are just plain boring and most of them don’t get it or are on the wrong side of reason.

I’m stickin’ with Levin, deleted Drudge and have turned off Faux.
Anyone else have a plan that you want to share?

The sad thing is that my 30 something children and grandchildren are going to have to deal with the repercussions of another four years of the systematic destruction of our country, if Bam is reelected. And if I try to talk to them about this, they just look at me. They are so busy with the daily goings on in their own lives.. oblivious to what’s in store for them down the road.

Some day,we can say we tried to do our part.
And we can tell them how America used to be. SIGH.

Well, first of all, you started your rant off with a falsehood.

Romney isn't one of "our guys".

Maybe, to be righteous, you should start out by criticizing Mitt and his supporters for lying about Newt on a continual basis.

Not there is a problem worthy of a rant!

No amount of complaining against potential voters will make Romney our next president. Gingrich or Obama. Take your pick.

I am certain that the the CEO of GM is tired of hearing about what a pos the volt is... but it is still a pos. newt and romney are what they are. I despise romney and I absolutely will never vote for him... not even at gunpoint. newt is extremely flawed... but I could vote for him... I would hate myself for it but I would. newt would be far better than obama and I want to see obama get his ass kicked in prime time. romney would actually be worse than obama in some ways... and if boehner and mcconnell both are majority leaders... mitt will be unrestrained.

Get this straight: Romney is a RINO and he is absolutely not my guy. I don't support people who grin when they talk about babies being killed in the womb.

Further, Paul is, in fact, wacko.

And Palin didn't want to run. People who want to run, actually, ya know, run.

Seriously, if you want to say "my guy", when referring to Romney, go right ahead. But there is no "we" here. Just you and Romney.

100% agree w/ you. I’ am so sick of it, I don’t even want to read the posts here. Everyday I count at least two or three suspicious newbie RATS gleefully posing here as staunch conservatives exploiting our red hot divisiveness and hatred for our own candidates, and sowing mischief and even MORE divisiveness amongst us. I started calling them out, but I finally gave up. What’s the use, we are our own worst enemy when I hear things like: I don’t care what happens, if I don’t get my favorite guy to go against the uber-alinsky marxist anti-American subversive community agitator Occupier, I won’t vote, or I’ll do a write-in......there!!!!! Can the numbskulley get any thicker?!! We are throwing everything we hold dear right off the cliff to prove something, I don’t know WHAT?!! It makes me sick to my stomach.

Don’t get me wrong, Romney is my least favored candidate, and yes, I do feel there was a conspiracy to get this suspect moderate RINO on the ballot. But nonetheless, this election like no other election in the past IS ABOUT OBAMA. He is enemy number ONE. He is the danger to this country like no other candidate before in the history of this country. shame on us for sabotaging our own chances to get rid of this treasonous enemy before he destroys this country by getting so entangled and fooled in our internal fights.
