Thanks for the info about Amy.

Since I don’t care that much about either team in the Super Bowl, I’ve been working on our taxes. Might as well get it done sooner than later. I think I’m gonna claim all my medical practioners as dependents. :^)

Hope y’all have had a GREAT weekend.

I do love Super Bowls not matter which teams are in but I did have a favorite tonight. I am a big Manning brothers fan. We followed Peyton in his college career at the University of Tennessee and decided to follow him when he went with the Colts. He's been injured and off for a while and I've started following Eli. I wasn't sure if we could pull it out tonight but they did a bang up job. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now, taxes....its terrible to do taxes during the Super Bowl or anytime if you ask me. "claiming your medical practioners" sounds like a winner to me. LOL! So glad you're feeling better Dave. Our prayers will continue for you and your future procedures.

That is such a beautiful and serene looking scene. Looks like a lovely place for a peaceful vacation.

Thank you for your sweet opening today and all our floral displays, Meg. Some of us have been tied up today getting ready for the Super Bowl! I did get a very short nap but not enough.

I just heard on the news about that guy (remember took his two tiny sons out in the snowy night to make s'mores, etc. a few years back and his wife has been missing since.) The lady brought his children for a supervised visit today and he took the little boys in and pushed her out and blew up the house and killed his boys and himself. I always knew he was crazy but why did he have to take those precious kids' lives? Doesn't this just literally break your heart? I've never heard anything so shocking.

On another thread posted we are informed that Queen Elizabeth celebrates her 60th anniversary today as the Queen of England.

I remember watching her coronation when I was a young pup.

Also, my Mom collected china cups and saucers. My Dad bought Mom a cup and saucer which commemorated the Queens coronation with a picture of the Queen on the cup and saucer.

When Mom passed away, that cup and saucer was passed on to me. We gave that cup and saucer to our oldest daughter in honor of her husband who is from England. I'd say it is indeed a collector's item.

Consider The Source

February 6, 2012

I love cinnamon. I love cinnamon rolls, cinnamon graham crackers, cinnamon candies, cinnamon toast, cinnamon apples, and cinnamon pretzels. Cinnamon is one of those spices that makes other things taste better. However, it never crossed my mind to think about where cinnamon comes from. Then, on a recent trip to Sri Lanka, I learned that 90 percent of all the cinnamon in the world comes from that island nation located in the Indian Ocean. For all of the cinnamon I’ve enjoyed over the years, I never stopped to consider its source.

Sadly, my walk with Christ is sometimes like that. God has blessed me with a wonderful wife, five children, and grandchildren who are more fun than a barrel of monkeys. In the midst of my enjoyment of them, however, I sometimes fail to consider the source of those blessings—what the hymnwriter called the “fount of every blessing.” James put it like this: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (1:17).

How ungrateful we would be to enjoy the rich blessings of life without thanking the Father who is the source of all of creation.

Dear Lord, from whom all blessings flow,
Most precious gifts dost Thou bestow;
So truly faithful may I be
As Thou art gracious unto me. —Roworth

Gratitude is a God-honoring attitude.

Read: James 1:12-18

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights. —James 1:17

Words can indeed bless or curse. We do well to look for the good and bless it.

In politics that is difficult to impossible. God help us, in Jesus name.

Today there is a softening of the church. In order to keep or attract people to the church there is an on going silent agreement to make the people sitting in the pews to feel good. Sin is not addressed. Changes in mores are avoided, the music is often not hymns but rather music that actually magnifies us, not the LORD.

Help us Father. Open our eyes and ears, there are admonitions in thy word that says those that do certain things will not be a part of thy Kingdom. Let not thy Word be censored ... ever, in Jesus name, amen.

GOOD MILITARY MONDAY TO AMY’S PLACE!

The Soldier’s Code

1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.

3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.

5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.

6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.

Etiam non princeps sed usque ad genua, Principis Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
