His choice is Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting."
Starts awkward and stays there. Breathy, like he's huffing the microphone. And there are some really noticable sour notes. Not good.
Randy: Dude, for me I didn't enjoy this at all. Pitchy all over the place. Felt like you were out of breath the whole time [yes]. You have more Urban, R&B swag.
J-Lo: Struggling with the song a little bit. But by the end I really loved it.
Steven: Yeah you were out of breath for me too. You have a special voice.

That Dad’s pat is probably a cultural thing
In the US it would be a pat like..you are on TV and need to show some sympathy but you don’t really like the person kind of pat.

The kids in middle school all wear the same plastic frames—in all sorts of colors, but usually black or red. They have no lenses. It’s a fad.
