As Romney's inevitability sets in, tell me about your third party.

Posted on 01/13/2012 6:37:07 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

Are there any conservative third party candidates of note this go around?

I don't vote for progressives, and that includes Romney. So tell me about your candidates.

What happens if Obozo fails to qualify for key primaries?

What happens if a meteor falls on the White House?

The chances of either occurring are about the same.

I'll tell you what. You can put your faith in birthers and I'll put mine in devastating objects from space. Until then, we may want to come up with a "Plan B".

“My candidate is the GOP nominee because third party candidates elect Democrats and this cannot happen this year. Period.”

THIS CANNOT BE SAID OFTEN OR LOUD ENOUGH!

My candidate is the GOP nominee because third party candidates elect Democrats and this cannot happen this year. Period.

My candidate is the GOP nominee because third party candidates elect Democrats and this cannot happen this year. Period.

My candidate is the GOP nominee because third party candidates elect Democrats and this cannot happen this year. Period.

2004: My candidate is the GOP nominee because third party candidates elect Democrats and this cannot happen this year. Period.

2008: My candidate is the GOP nominee because third party candidates elect Democrats and this cannot happen this year. Period.

2012: My candidate is the GOP nominee because third party candidates elect Democrats and this cannot happen this year. Period.

Not that I necessarily disagree with the premise, but there is always some type of crisis seemingly making this (whenever that is) election the most important of our lifetime.

The last 2 presidential elections, I looked at The Constitution Party website. Ron Paul would be their ideal candidate, it seems. They are very conservative on domestic issues. They, like Ron Paul, are completely out of touch with reality on foreign affairs.

Pat Buchanan effectively destroyed the last real viable attempt to develop a third party, and that was when he took over Ross Perot’s Reform Party. Buchanan managed to bankrupt it and put it out of business.

A third party cannot just rise up around an individual or around a single issue. That is doomed to failure. Developing a third party into a viable force takes time and money.

As one thread indicated yesterday, some 40% of voters consider themselves conservatives. That 40% is greater than the numbers of either current major party. That 40%, however, just doesn’t know how to utilize their numbers. The Tea Party movement was a viable force, but it proclaimed that it would not develop into a political party. A viable third party needs that kind of movement, however, to at least get it started. Such a developing party may need a decade to evolve into a political force.

A viable Third Party can only come from mass defections from current GOP politicians who are fed up with the Party.

“Supreme Court nominees. We CANNOT afford to let obama nominate ANY more-!!!”

Great point Jimbo!

Of course anyone can vote the way they want, but I am starting to think that many of the third party advocates are just democrat trolls.

OMG. I’m reading your post and the thought hits me...

Romney is gonna select Sarah Palin as his veep.

Freepers are gonna freak - yet vote for them. And it’ll be 2008 all over again.

One word Newt. Watch closely over the next week or so:
Newt will win South Carolina and Florida will suddenly be up for grabs. And then the establishment will say: Oh we misunderstood what Newt was saying, we agree with him. Heads up we are just in the firs quarter, behind but we are driving for a touchdown. Go Newt.

That situation sounds plausible. I think it can still swing either way. I’m not convinced that the leftists don’t want a Republican (even in name only) in office to reap the whirlwind from all the leftist policies that were created. They’re boiling the frog. Remember that. They know that no real change will come, so they can sit back and watch the barn burn on their way out, then regroup. Even if laws are passed, the leftists judges will overturn them. I think that if anyone does have a chance to expel Romney from the nomination, that, at this point, I agree, it’s Newt.

NOBODY is going to run 3rd party. Not Paul, not Gingrich, not Sarah, NOBODY.
The silly game of guess who is not even worth answering except for this. We have a president to remove, in case you don’t know.

If the conservative candidates don’t unite, and Romney gets the nomination, who you gonna vote for?
