Meg, that is SO sweet! Thank you!
I shock myself sometimes - (like saying that a mouse popping out of a coffee cup is “sweet”). LOL!!
BUT, if it comes from my Meggers - it IS sweet!
When we are children our father is like a god to us, (only we do not know this).
Later when we learn of god ... we give to him (God) the attributes of our Father.
(Hence if our father was loving
we think of God as loving)
or (if angry we see God as angry,)
or( if mean to us, we see God as mean,)
(if not present in our life, then God isn't present either.)
After awhile, I knew it was true for me in part.
Unconsciously I projected my father on to my ideas about god. My father did not know God and he was a realist, did not go to church and did not see Christians as any different than others in their actions.
Amazing how our early life is so powerful later on ...
Awww..*HUGS*
One of the funniest sights and sounds I recall is of me, after assuring my husband if he opened the pantry door and scared the mouse out that had just run in ..I would hit it with a broom..I screamed and dropped the broom as the tiny little thing ran out at me..LOL
(I’ve killed copperheads and a water moccasin..go figure..LOL)
(((((Thank you for the Blessings)))))
You hit on one of the great truths of life, and the reason why fathers are so very important in a child’s life. The foundation on which we build our lives is learned from our fathers. The principles and values that we hold come from our father. Studies have showed that children who have fathers who go to church and take them, stay in the church through their life. All other scenarios do not keep children in church. When I look at the way I have lived my life, I realize (in my old age) that my values came from my father. I had to “learn” to love God because my father was very Presbyterian (stern). Mothers nurture children and they need that, but they also need fathers to teach them, as God commanded.
#2 all the way! :)
Prayer continues for your situation to improve daily. We sure do miss you around here! Always loved reading your posts...though I should have told you more often. :(
Geo, your words are so meaningful!
The following song is a reminder,
That some day.... we will know.
Thank you.
Farther Along - Peasall Sisters (click)
Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long
While there are others living about us
Never molested though in the wrong
Chorus
Farther along we'll know all about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by
When death has come and taken our loved ones
It leaves our home so lonely and drear
And then do we wonder why others prosper
Living so wicked year after year
Repeat chorus
When we see Jesus coming in glory
When he comes down from his home in the sky
Then we shall meet him in that bright mansion
We'll understand it all by and by
Repeat chorus
Yeah we'll understand it all by and by
Look at how many homes have no fathers: thousands of children having little or no father image.
The reason for gangs is the belonging ... part.
Children having children. We are really messing up the world. God has given us the way. If we would, could simply do it!
Son is here, the car is loaded, and the discharge papers are signed. I am signing off, now. Y’all be good....I’ll check back in when I get to CA (son’s house). Adios
Thank you, for the kind words.
I posted to the thread PFTPOI and it got lost ...
Exactly. Until we have a revival of fathers nothing is going to get better.
Your granddaughters must be on pins and needles waiting to spend so much time with you. I'm sure you won't want for much of their attention when they're around.
So glad you are being released and can feel some sunshine on your face. Safe journey, my friend! (((hugs)))
Thank you!
DO NOT TEMPT ME WITH CHOCOLATE! ;)
Amen, very nice. I love Elvis singing Gospel songs after all that’s where he got his start...
Thank you!
