Anyone else spending Christmas Eve alone? (vanity)

Merry Christmas everyone! My sincere hope is that all of you, each and every one, will have a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Just wondering if any others out there are spending this sacred night solo.

Besides my trusty Boxer, Django the Wonderdog, and a new edition to the household, a gorgeous long-haired black cat I have dubbed Jackson, I have the house to myself all evening and night.

Tomorrow, it will be family wall-to-wall at mom's house, complete with gifts and an excellent multi-calorie dinner. But, tonight, I'll enjoy a quiet supper and a nice cappuccino, watching "The Muppet Christmas Carol," and maybe "A Christmas Story." Probably turn in early.

Anyone else in Freeperland alone tonight? Just curious.

I’m in Sierra Madre, California with my son.

Merry Christmas to all.

LOL I can picture that. Pepper use to be nose to nose with me and waited for me to say OK then she would take whatever was in my mouth...her deafness took care of that little trick....Newfie’s are big balls of fluff...I hear they are very gently....Hope your day was great and Happy new Year coming up......GG

Holy cow...I was just outside with the dog and someone must’ve either NOT gotten what they want for a gift....or....they tested their new toy.

Ralphie’s Red Ryder it was not! :)

Merry Chrsitmas OW! Very thoughtful post. I am grateful to have made your acquaintance as well...as you know.

It’s been a roller coaster year for many and looks to continue for a time. May the Lord truly find our hearts knitted to His throughout this season and in the coming year ahead as our nation faces the perils it’s in.

The very best to you and yours Outlaw Woman....and Free Rebublic is better for your being here.

Actually, my ball of fluff weighed in at 180 lbs. We dieted her down to a svelte 160 lbs. which was a good thing, because, when she was 13 years old, she developed progressive paralysis of her hind legs. I used to pick up her back end wheelbarrow-style and walk her out to the backyard when I came home from work. (I weighed in at 101 lbs. then, but I lifted weights so it was OK.) We were so fortunate that she lived such a long life. She was a great dog and she loved camping. My camping buddies got her a big red bow so that nobody would mistake her for a bear. When we were on the road, one of the truck drivers at a rest stop said, “You need a saddle.” *Sigh*

I went to Urgent Care at 7:10 a.m., waited 1.5 hours (!!!) and left before I’d seen a doctor. I felt better just getting out of there. Honestly! Today I announced to my still-sick husband, “I went to Urgent Care again and got the prescription they really wanted me to have.” I had gone to In&Out Burgers and gotten us hamburgers and fries. Health Food. He said that before he’d realized I was was joking he wondered, ‘Would they ever let my wife in there again?” haha. I think I’ll make wienie roll-ups for dinner. If Health Food won’t cure us, nothing will.

[It was blessed in every way PL and you were on my mind today.]

Ah, that warmed my heart friend. Sixteen family members here and we had a lovely [and hectic] day, lol. I’m so glad that you did too!

Either 97 or 99 last time he got weighed, several months ago...can’t remember exactly and there’s no way to check him without using the vet’s scales.

I remember using hubby’s FedEx digital shipping scale and shrieking “Bubby weighs 25 pounds now!” or whatever new puppy weight he’d achieved.

Seems both like yesterday and forever ago.

He still wants “mommy” to cuddle him upside down in my lap.

The only thing that fits on my lap now are his head and few inches of his neck.

[I need another puppy]...LOL

He’s a handsome fellow.

(I hope he doesn’t become too vain and haughty when complimented. ;-) )

You can't imagine.

As soon as he sees a camera, he strikes a dramatic "pose".

It started when he was just a baby

And has only gotten worse.

If we're out in public and somebody sees him but doesn't comment, he'll stare at them like "Well? Aren't you going to *say* something about me?!?"

It's obnoxious....LOL

Clearly, humility is not a doberman virtue. :-)

Has he ever been miffed when you receive more compliments than he? ;-)

She sounds like a great family member..we never get over them, just remember the great things...I have 2 great dogs buried in my side yard. The lab I have now, have had for 12 years, we are taking it a day at a time, blind, deaf and has taken to having her back end collapse...When I lift her up at the hind end, she walks off OK....

I don't think I can live without a dog and at my age couldn't start out with another one...I have told her, nose to nose I have to go first, so she better get strong...so I put her in the hands of St. Francis, patron saint of animals...

I know Newfies are large, that was one huge ball of fluff...I get a picture in my mind of you wheelbarrowing her outside...she knew you loved her, you'd have to to do that for her....:O)
