Any builder will tell you not to tear down a load-bearing wall. The rest of the house falls apart.

I fully agree. Of course, I didn’t see any pics in the original article, so it isn’t worth much either.

I’d been hearing that the ruins of Pompeii had been suffering neglect in recent years.

How “renowned” is this place? Has it been on HGTV? Does a 35 year old blonde female fitness instructor live there with her 75 year old paunchy husband? Women might marry once for love, but after that it’s for a house overlooking the ocean.

That’s a shame. It is a very interesting place to visit.

Stone countertops.....you can’t really say you’ve updated unless you put in stone countertops in the kitchen. I can see the realtor.....
“Oh, the columns have to go! I suppose you have orange shag carpet around here, too. Put in some stone countertops and we can ask, three, four hundred thousand for it.”

Sine the Villa refinanced in 2005 and took cash out, the building has gone to pot.

The House of Loreius Tiburtinus . . .
1. Couldn't have been a very important person. Important Romans had three names, as in Gaius Julius Caesar.
2. Seems ole Loreius isn't taking care of his property.
3. With Loreius for a name, I'll bet he was in plenty of fights in the third grade with guys who made fun of him.

I probably have pics of this place from our recent visit. I must have shot a few hundred there and at Herculaneum.. man, is that place falling apart. :-)

Maybe Vesuvius is warming up again. Man, I’d hate to have Pompeii covered up again before I get a chance to visit.
