The House of Loreius Tiburtinus . . .

1. Couldn't have been a very important person. Important Romans had three names, as in Gaius Julius Caesar.

2. Seems ole Loreius isn't taking care of his property.

3. With Loreius for a name, I'll bet he was in plenty of fights in the third grade with guys who made fun of him.

He may have been non-Roman; three names was part of the whole putting-on-airs characteristic of the three dozen or so patrician families, and caught on later with the middle class.

I tried and tried, but couldn’t come up with a pic of another Pompeiian house; it’s tiny and narrow (must have been the space left between the adjacent homes) but the entire front facade is a grand front door.
